How Much Is Your Char Worth? (to You)

Awhile ago I got a PM here on ffxiah where someone wanted to buy my char.

He didnt seem like an RMT or anything, none of the "go to www.RMTwebsite.com and sell your char" or anything.

So just out of curiousity I asked him how much he was willing to pay. The respond was that he was willing to start working from 350$.

Now I would never think about selling my char, except for maybe if I decided to quit ffxi forever. Or if someone paid me a ridiculous amount of money. I'm sure as hell not gonna sell it for 350$.

Some fast math:

I've been playing for about 5 years (give or take, but lets say 5 years). That alone is over 800$ in monthly fees. And I have close to 400 days of play time, with little to no afk/bazaar time.

So over a 5 year period I have paid 800$ cash and put a year of work in to my char.

At my current job I'm making around 20$ per hour. If we assume I'm working 8 hours per day, that would be

400(days)x8(hours) = 3200 hours

3200x20$ = 64000$

Now, if someone told me they'd pay me 64000$ for my char, I would sell without hesitate. I would sell for 10000$ as well.

What is the lowest amount of money you would accept for your char?

None. Because sadly SE owns my soul. Even though I *** about this game I don't think I could sell Mia.

I sold mine for $3000. Wasnt worth the time i put into it though.

Since I still enjoy the game, It'd be hard to consider taking anything reasonable to what my character would actually be worth.

If someone would give me $800 today I'd prolly do it. Would be kinda dumb not to lol. Could buy a better account and have some left over. But then again it wouldn't be MY account. It does have sentimental value.

I know what you mean. I would never feel the same about the game playing a char I didnt lv myself, or did all missions, got the gear for and all that.

This cause I know a few cases...

I wouldn't sell... Though if my orginal account was RMTed like I think it would be very hard to not buy it back or do something to get it back
That account wouldn't even be worth... 100$ for what I did with it unless it's freaking amazing now.

It would have to be some completely ridiculous amount where I'd actually be stupid if I didn't do it.. It's taken me a lot of time and help from others to get where I am today, Overall I've played probably at least 3 years (I have a habit of quitting, or if you wanna call it as you see it 'very extended breaks') and I just got Sea like last month.. I don't grind or rush to do things, so It'd take me forever to even get halfway back to where I am currently...

I probably wouldn't accept less then 8-10 grand, seeing as how I don't actually want to sell my character and DO NOT want to go through leveling up another..

Since NO ONE is going to pay that much for my char (you can get much much nicer ones for 1/5th of that easily) it's just not going to happen.

My account isn't that great, and I love Silv too much to ever let someone else have her. ^,^

My character is an extension of me, or at least thats how i feel. it would be tough to sell. Everyone i know, knows me as rule, and it would be weird to be called by any other name.

I could never sell Lie. Even if I ever quit (which I don't plan to), I would give my gil/items away to friends or people that needed them and then deactivate her, never sell her. There's just way too much sentimental value to me.

Do you accept raisins and salted peanuts?

id would probably see my char for 1k+ but would be hard altho i know if i ever lose my char im never coming back

Considering i'm just about to finish up all jobs 75, and move on to finishing up my remaining crafts to 60... i don't think i could even name a price someone would pay.

I don't have a ton of gil by any means but i do have a lot of rare/ex things people only wish they had.

....Yeah i couldn't sell my character, too much work and achievements to throw out the window.

oh and btw, zero astral burns... all the hard way.

Talking about my account lol I sold that separatly. FF is a good money making thing.

Also Haubergeons sold for 20 Mil back in the day. And they werent expensive to make either.

You know, Mia. If you had started playing only a few days sooner, I would have given you all of my stuff rather than some other random person I barely knew.

it's actually very risky to buy accounts. if it's done over craigs list, it's a lot safer for obvious reasons. but it's easy for someone to steal the account back after they've sold it to you.

if someone offered me a 1000 dollars-ish, i'd sell w/o hesitating and probably be done w/ the game. if someone offered me 500 dollars or less, i'd probably think about it, but wouldn't end up doing it. but i'd have to be legitimately offered to really be able to answer the question.
