American Isner, Mahut playing record-breaking match
June 23, 2010
CBSSports.com wire reports

WIMBLEDON, England -- John Isner of Tampa, Fla., and Nicolas Mahut of France are playing what already is the longest match on record in tennis history.

Their first-round match at Wimbledon has lasted more than 9 1/2 hours -- breaking the record of 6 hours, 33 minutes set in a 2004 French Open match.

Isner and Mahut have played more than 110 games across more than 6 1/2 hours in the fifth set alone. They resumed playing Wednesday at the start of the fifth set; the match was suspended because of darkness Tuesday night after four sets.

The match is approaching the 10 hour mark and right now (or at least when I posted this) it is tied at 59 59 in the 5th set, thats 118 Games in just this one set! Amazing...wonder how long this will go..wonder if this will change the whole no 5th set Tiebreak rule at Wimbledon.

If you wanna know something funny, I figured Isner would be doing some crazy stuff after I first watched him win a set of Fededer a few years ago, one of what two people to do it during that open?

I see Isner becoming a great player and taking #1 someday~
