Wannabe 360 Hackers?

So what's with all the wannabe hackers on 360s that say something along the lines of "If you don't do <insert thing here> I'll flood your IP and make it so you can't get on the internet for <x amount of days/hours>"?

Now I know that's not technically hacking so much as something along the lines of DDOSing but I'm not great with the hackish world lingo.

My main question for this is what makes these stupid people think that they can DDOS attack/hack someone, while using a system made by MICROSOFT? If they were truely successful in their attempt, the repercussions would be nearly instantaneous. Not only would they have Microsoft on their *** for using information gained from wrong use of Microsoft's system in a hack attempt, but they would also have the FBI on them for attempting to hack in the first place!

Back in my horrible day of Korean mmo's I was accustomed to be threatened to be hacked, DDOS or the baddies from 4-chan to come after me.

Lol it is possible to DDOS people, host boot, bridge connections and other things over XBL. But it's doubtful that you'll find very many unless you play Halo. That's the game that I've seen it happen in the most, people love to cheat their way to the highest rank.

I've never been successfully DDOS'd before. Every person that says they will can't even get my IP right. I'd love to see how host booting or bridge connectiosn work. Something I've heard plenty of but rarely see is a lag switch...

Ahahah I used to have some software or something that could find other players IP, was mostly to mess with friends and being curious of how it worked. In my experience, it didn't work often and was really annoying to do in the first place, especially if you don't get host much at all.

1. You can't successfully implement a DDOS attack with an up link less than your target's down link.

2. Since 99.9% of all home-based ISPs offer 3-4x greater down link speeds than up link, tech kiddies have no chance.

I've seen everything done on the Xbox and 360. You can get someones Xbox IP by linking your own Xbox IP to ZoneAlarm, you also need to have a Cross Over Connection where you connect to Xbox Live via an Ethernet cable to your PC. Configured right you can then see your whole parties and the opposite parties IP. You can then midgame force you IP to become uncompatible with the other players, effectively forcing them out. You can also change the bandwidth amount of your own party members giving them the Host of the game because they have the bets connection. It's actually very easy if you know what to do.

Yeah, everything I learned was from simple google searches. I'm sure there are sites that have guides and things out nows. x.x

You blocked traffic from a specific remote host, which in terms denied them service, but it's not a DDOS.

EDIT - From my understanding DDOSing was just made a lot harder, it's still possible though. Isn't it common amongst IRC channels since there's multiple users IE multiple computers at your disposal?

Well i was talking about kicking them out of games and giving people hosts. You can't DDoS someone, but if you read my explaination post, it's how to kick people from games and give a person leader of the connections.

Oh, when you said "They can't do it anymore" after quoting my post, thought you were referring to a DDOS attack since that's what I was talking about.

I was always under the impression that DDoS was more with just overloading someones server.
I've "participated" in some of those, but that was aboutttt 3 years ago now, with a big 4chan raid on X site that had wronged them.
Just pretty much inputting an image file(for example into a web based application that does X amount of requests for the specific image, multiplying the fact that there are several people doing it and all that...yeah that can take out ***.
But attacking directly through IP with a "flood", don't really see that being plausible, I work for a regional ISP and yeah a ping attack wouldn't work for example, it's not 1998 with dial up anymore guys :D
and haxxoring literally over a console? nah not possible nowadays, maybe with PS3's dual boot OS set up they had(prior to the update).

people are morons lol had a guy on halo who was extremely pissed at the time threaten to hack mine and my friends xbox live accounts and sell them on ebay XD lol people will say/do anything online since they have distance and a computer/tv screen between you and them its all talk and for show tryin tos care people lol

Its worse when you play other games on xboxlive... particularly cod4 modern warfare2.. i played it for a while then got spam messages from stupid kids. It was more frequent than RMT tells on FFXI.


Some were as ridiculous as saying they will "ban my account if i dont buy them microsoft points" or will 'have all their friends file complaints on me' lol

I just block them all.
