the people you are with will break or make the game for you. ffxi is an mmo with a story of its own, but in the end you write your story. i can agree with some people that say at least in my server there are people who like dominating as elite > everyone else but in the end what good is it you have bad *** gear if you are snotty about it and distance yourself from everyone portraying yourself as garbage in the inside. But trolling is every where too, just have to know how to deal with people like that. just wish you good luck in finding people on your server who can be as caring or understanding and try to enjoy the reason you picked up the game in the first place.

Just had a long drawn out convo with a friend of mine in the LS about this and he told me that he thinks it is all in how you read it. I told him I get annoyed by mean ppl and bitchy ppl. Do we have any kind of game ediquite to follow on this game. I looked up how other games like this deal with communication and found this list of general rules to follow.
•Do not use obscene expressions and do not offend other players
•Do not write message, using only capital letters (r example, «PEOPLE! HELP!!!»). It is perceived as shout and can be negatively apprehended.
•Be open and friendly with other players. Communicate, ask questions, share experience, and you learn a lot of new!
•Be polite. Thank for renders’ assistance.
•Do not be too persevering and exacting. If you want your request to be executed try to instate other player’s favour.
•Take easy the defeats in the game. Do not aspire to vent anger on other players

Man I would so enjoy this game more if ppl did this. But I know ppl like to be difficult and it will never happen lol /sigh

I'm an *** on the forums, but I'd say outside them I'm alright, can't tolerate certain types of people though.

Well, many of the people with nice gear (as in really, really, REALLY nice gear) have to be *** to get there. Whether it be through manipulation or not, the "mean" people get what they want and the number of nice "good" people is dwindling.

It's cyclical: noobs get good gear and then their epeens grow. Once they feel strong and powerful, they feel like they can boss people around. They get more stuff and they think they're the most knowledgeable people in the group.

The most important thing to remember, though, is that mean people may or may not have any idea what the hell they're talking about.

(And by mean people I mean those that try to put others down for gear/playstyle choices when it is not required. A LS leader that wants to get his point across for the success of an event is just doing his job, but the guy that yells at you for having poor gear for no reason is just a jerk.

Alot of people on my server who I was "warned" about have been nothing but kind to me, and in turn some of the ls mates I "thought" were my friends were bigger jackasses then the "leets" they warned me against. It isindividual ~
