Asura.Revelation said: Phoenix.Destrac said: P.S. Game definitely needs a pseudo AH (maybe not one that people bid on, but at least can easily see who are selling what items at what price in a smooth way). Going through million people's bazaars to buy is not fun.
I liked EQ's Bazaar (auction house). A zone dedicated to people selling stuff. You stood in certain spots of the zone and opened a Bazaar menu. All you had to do was put the item in Bazaar and set price. BUT the difference between that and FFXIV's system as that in EQ, players in the zone could pull up a bazaar menu also and search for items they wanted to buy and it would give you a list of items being sold in all bazaars, which you could sort by catergories, or by typing in a specific thing you were looking for and search. Then after you found what you were looking for, it would give you the name of the seller and guide you to them. Once you found them you just checked thier bazaar and bought the item from them.
I think this is the type of thing FFXIV needs. I liked this too. ^^ Seems like they could just implement a search function into the retainer system they already have and eliminate the need for an AH. I really liked Aion's Broker too, it was so easy to use.

Doesn't work, only fix i've had is going in and out of passive...and in that time at these low lvls mob is already dead.

guildleves : dislike
I find it useless beside quick money. By the time you complete one, killing 10 marmots is better exp and skill.. and some money. Theu should reward more exp or more gil or .. something. Coffer drops 300g-1k .. doesn't seem to be worth it considering how often they pop (at least with 2 persons in the party).
NPC selling : dislike. Wtf do I have to wait 30 sec to sell one item for 2 gil. That's dumb already.
Exp system : dislike. so I got a shiny WS but it's dumb to use it for 2 reasons
1) by the time it actually registers or the animation goes off, a few punches are doing more or equivalent damage.
2) you get skill points by punching more, so killing faster doesn't result in more skill/h. You want instead to minimze the damage per hit so that the mob lasts longer .. that's dumb.
occulist : like. Anyone notice it's the best "DD" right now ? yay for ws-less club being top tier DD.

The thing about Guildleves is that they really only give you "Bonus" Skill and XP if you invoke your Guardian aspect. More importantly however, they build Faction Credit for Factionleves. A chance to take part in bigger battles, with greater plunder!

Basically all the CE people paid 80$ to play Final beta...SE once again getting over I'm sure they did this on purpose and is just loling. I'm sure 14 won't be a good play until at least around march when they do the xbox release. Instead of releasing it when it was finished se just said fuk it we'll just charge them to play final beta toss them a few ingame items if they play...and even toss in a pair of fancy shoes for those who play both. Hell if they get tired of the bugs and unfinished content in 14 they can just play Abyssea in 11 0.0
and when you join in around march, we will all be level 50 with a mil plus gear doing endgame. You join early because you want to play the game, its not THAT buggy, just lag and minor annoyances
lol well I didn't play ffxi until 2007-2008 and I caught up to the guys who played when it first dropped with ease so that doesn't bother me I'd be more pissed to play a game with bugs and glitches lol don't get me wrong I'll probably play b4 march but based on the feed back i'm getting from the CE guys I'm in no rush.
Idk man, depends on who your talking about, if its "I got a 75" that really doesnt count for much at all ^^

You two are very lucky then. (`3`) The lock/unlock is easy and quick to do so its not the end of the world. Though I do hope its fixed VERY soon.

it is when you have 2 Mages nuking the crap of the mob and you end up getting no skills at all.

you are doing it wrong :-p
For me it happens when the mob runs through me and i have to spin around, or if it jumps around too much. If you are lucky/carefull with your mob placement handling, you might not get it as much. if you notice, right when you aggro a mob, it turns purple, then red, at that moment i think it has the biggest chance to be already engaged

***. The exp, skill and money rewards are junk when compared to the time it requires to complete one, bonus or not (never noticed anything from guardian bonus beside maybe survivability, so calling ***), even an easy one. You have to run to the camp then run to the mobs and then run again if they flee.
Also lol at the last comment. Seriously GL getting 100 faction credits in just one city knowing you can only do 3 of that city per day. It's best to level up first and then do high level leves. But how to you level up fast ? Kill marmots. I say marmots but you can replace them with basically any mobs. 6k skill/h solo. Higher level mobs give more frequent skill and higher skill too, so teaming up is faster than that even.
By Flionheart 2010-09-28 02:58:24
Guildleves are easily the best way to earn EXP and skill points. Doing level 20 leves against hard enemies makes your points fly up. Fighting hard enemies not only provide less EXP and skill, they also provide less Gil and loot.

WSs save your life on MRD, try taking down a yellow dodo without using them, watch how many times you die before finally getting lucky and actually survive just swinging the whole battle.. Also, on both MRD and ARC, the WSs take off a considerable amount of HP, more then would be taken off by using normal attacks in the same amount of time. I'm assuming you're basing this off of PGL, and PGL is not typical for melee classes.
Leves also give you guild points, which buy you new abilities, and as of right now it's the only way of obtaining them, plus try turning in 4 1-2 star leves for one level 20 leve, the reward you DEFINITELY couldn't make in the same time doing other things, including the run to the camp from the city. Your faction points also grow when you trade in old leves, granted you still won't be doing a faction leve in 2 days, but it's not like it'll take you a month to get enough points.
Dislikes
-Synth support needs to last longer (it wasn't so bad being short in XI, because you automatically get up after each synth, but here you have to stand yourself up, which getting up and down every few minutes becomes a hassle.)
-Lack of party and linkshell tabs in the chatbox
-Lack of a DB (or in it's place some common meeting ground where players from other cities could make exchanges, like chocobo circuit sort of, just something to keep me from having to use anima or hike 30 mins just get a few ores or shards off someone.)
-Lack of mobs (I'm sure this will be sorted out eventually, but when we all start off at level 1 and there's 200 people running around the same area, it gets pretty hard to find a mob, I'm sure once the game has been out quite a bit longer and the level ranges aren't so closed together, it won't be as big of an issue)
-Mob scaling (I guess that's what you'd call it.. Seems to me in any given area there's only a handful of mobs that are feasible targets of a low enough level to really be messed with, and the rest are ridiculously high leveled mobs that will rip a rank 20 a new ***.)
Goats, goats *** goats.. I'm sick of those *** things following me everywhere I go.. They constantly get in the goddamned way, wouldn't be so bad if there weren't so many.

Why would you do that ? It's better to duo them or solo blue one. It's not FFXI. The winner is the one that gets 500 skill per mob. If you are about to die on dodos, you might want to try something easier. It's better to slowly kill a weak mob than quickly killing something strong. This is not FFXI.

Because they don't always pop back the same.. I can be killing blue and green ones and yellow ones pop back, if I'm the only one there what am I supposed to do? Just say screw it and leave? Also, I never said anything as far as skilling up, I go after dodos mostly for the skins/shards/crystals. I pick a secluded area where few or no people are so I'm not running around 10 minutes looking for one that isn't already claimed. All I said was that WSs save your live on yellow dodos, and it's true.

Off topic: Are there only 4 quests atm? I was looking at wiki and it seems like there are only 4 story quests per town atm? This can't be right. If it is so I hope they're patching the game real soon. I recently finished the last rank 15 quest and was wondering if there is another one at 20 or what have you.
So far they seem good but it just doesn't seem like a lot of launch content.

Stop making out you know Everything about XIV, you've been lucky enough to sell shards to an idiot for a high price, that doesn't mean they do on every server.
GuildLeves are currently the most efficient way to level in regards to gear, gil and skill.

He's only levelled up PUG, and PUG has pretty abysmal weapon skills in Concussive blow and Seismic shock.

I really can't get into XIV, getting put off by the numerous bugs and horrible controls. I think I'm gonna stick with XI for now, at least until they iron out some of the many things wrong with XIV.

Most crafters on Trabia farm them, themselves. Why would you buy them when they are so easy to obtain through mining and killing?
Again, you got lucky. Level 10 and 20 leves still remains the most efficient way to make gil, gear and skill.

Yeah I agree with flion, hell what about those of us who craft as well as level melee/mage. We don't exactly have teh shards to toss away. And just a heads up if you hadn't noticed mr. I sell my shards SE is trying to push you to level every craft.
By Flionheart 2010-09-28 08:28:18
I don't understand selling shards at all, it's far more profitable to turn those shards into items that you can make an asinine profit on.
Like I made a pair of gloves that cost me about 150 gil to make, and sold it for 10k lol.
