Edit: "Most stuff" being things outside of abyssea. Well, that's because all of that ***was designed for lv 75. I'd be surprised if you weren't capping acc on those naked, which is why i specifically said voidwatch, lol

Yeah, figured. :p But yeah I'm aware of the acc problems I'd be facing in Voidwatch... that puk was a little crazy. (Thus why I mentioned waiting an update ><)

Given the acc needs on Voidwatch, what would an ideal setup be for VS now?

I've only done Voidwatch once, I haven't been on as of late, and I did it w/ yellow curry buns. I'd probably swap to pizza first, and then see what adjustments I'd need to make from there.

Sylph.Tigerwoods said: SS GH RR for mnk. That being said crit hit dmg+ is going to be capped, so can swap out Loki's. Black belt > thunder belt, but gorget > justice torque. I personally use Thew bomblet and Aesir Ear pendant, but other than that your build looks like mine (I still need heafoc though, using alkies).
This is weird and stalker-ish, but I could have SWORN I saw a post when you got your heafocs...

Didn't SE take the cap off of crit hit rate and crit hit + dmg? (I thought they were both capped at 50% or so before the last update, but I think I heard something of that cap being lifted completely).. And would it being uncapped, change your builds ta all?

Crit hit rate was 95%, crit hit dmg was 50%.
Considering you weren't hitting the cap to begin with (AoA/RR/GH), your crit hit rate was never limited in gear to begin with., so the raise in the cap should have no effect on gear, only on atma (which would make you hit the cap, if you use SS, but not worth losing out the counter for, in my opinion, so I'd still use AoA/RR/GH)

I tried SS in place of GH about a week ago.... about 20 minutes later I wenr and switched back to GH. The loss of 20% critical hit was noticeable, especially on Victory Smite.

Don't you have pup too Tiger? Do you use the same 3 atma for pup as well with Smite? I know you have those Mantis+2 or w/e, last time I checked...idk if you went and did Vere's as well though.... (I know this is a mnk thread...but come on here, its the same WS that I'm gonna aim for again once I get back in the game lol just for my pup)

Honestly, the only times I've used pup since the lv 75 update is when I was lv'ing it each lv cap to the new cap, which only took a few hours. I used the same atma for mnk at those times, but I haven't rly looked at pup math in a long time.
Everything but my mnk and my war are pretty much retired.

I'm trying to sneak in a little more optimization for my Victory Smite builds. I've read pretty much everything in this thread - including the lawlRelic vs Empy pages - but what I'm still trying to wrap my head around is the Anwig Salade.
I noticed back on page 2 or 3 there were comments on STR, WS Acc and I thought WS DMG augments being the best for all our damage. I get the STR and the WS Accuracy options, but the WS DMG+2% isn't adding up for me.
Here's what I currently use for Victory Smite.
The only upgrade I've been looking for was Beir Belt +1, (Which is of course in stock while I'm at freak'n work!!!) but I've been pretty happy with my WS numbers. But I'm not seeing Anwig Salade as the item that pushes me further.
What am I missing that a number of people believe 2% extra damage out performs direct WS modifiers? I thought maybe WS DMG+2% and Crit DMG+2% may be useful, but would that out perform the straight STR+8?

Ahh ok Tiger, I wasn't sure if you still rocked the pup lol. I personally love that job, and was working on my Vere/Mantis path h2h, before I had to quit for awhile, which is why I was looking at builds for V Smite on this thread here...

Its only 4 WSC, doesn't come close to 2% DMG on all hits, and 2% DMG on all crits. Effectively 4% more assuming all crits.

Augmented shura +1? Str+6 Acc+6, + luck / WSD+3% Atk+6
Question on atmas... RR/GH/Apoc vs. RR/GH/SS
After using them both I tend to lean towards SS. Does the math support this? 500+ crits on NQ mobs is nice but does it really overtake the 15% TA?

2% extra damage per WS is the same as 2% extra damager per hit. But the 2% extra damage per crit may show higher returns. As each hit could crit or not crit, and each hit do varying amounts of damage.
So the Crit DMG+2% makes sense in this case. But even at my highest Victory Smite of almost 17k, the WS DMG+2% only adds 340 DMG. Now damage is damage, but wouldn't STR make up for this and then some?
Ultimately I finished the expansion and never picked up the hat, so I could really pick up any hat. (Never knew what to put on it, or just already had better options for my jobs.) But I guess I could consider a STR/Crit DMG setup to test with.

Meanwhile we equip a number of things just in case something happens, but a lose of STR - and the corespondent - just doesn't seem to be worth it over a flat 2% increase in damage, and a chance at an extra 2% if a hit crits.
I'm going to dump my information into the DPS calculator and see what information it can provide, but I just can't see it pushing ahead presently.

I'm confused as to what twist of logic led you to the idea that a stat that 1) will not always be applied to the WS (as you said yourself, not every hit will crit) and 2) is subject to diminishing returns in that you potentially have existing critdmg+ from Impetus, Razed Ruins, and/or Sanguine Scythe, could possibly exhibit higher returns than an equal percentage increase with none of these diminishing factors.

Crit hit dmg+2% is a MAX of 2% critical damage.
Any crit dmg+% before that will devalue it (hai raized ruins, impetus).
And even if you were getting the full value, it only applies to the hits that crit, so if every hit crits, its a max of 2% increase.
2% ws dmg, will give 2% to the entire ws, and unless you have more ws dmg+% gear, will not be devalued at all and you still get the full bonus whether or not you crit.

WSDMG+2% vs STR+4, inside Abyssea:
Assuming capped fSTR, Smite has 60% STR mod and thus will generally see an increase of 2 base damage from adding 4 STR. 2 base damage is a 2% increase if your base damage is 100. Vere 85 is D32, base damage from H2H skill with merits is 44, and base damage from fSTR would be 11. 87 base damage already. For STR+4 to be better, you'd need to have a base STR value no higher than 26. WSDMG+2% is far better even if you're naked and will still be better outside Abyssea.

Of course I'm not discussing RR/Apoc, so the following tier list concerns only the choice of the third atma.
Buffed MNK: SS > GH > VV
Unbuffed MNK: VV > SS > GH
Now to explain what I mean for "unbuffed", simply your MNK/WAR without food or any other sort of buff.
For buffed I mean your MNK with food and/or berserk and haste. Average buff, no need to consider zerg-like buff here.
Also, the difference between the 3 for Unbuffed is really really small, they're all close to each other.
SS has a somehow noticeable gap over GH instead, when buffed. Oh and also, GH and VV swap place if you currently have Impetus up (with max crit rate bonus).
With that being said, Atma of A&O would still probably be best than all of the mentioned Atmas, as third choice.
In the end for MNK I'd still keep GH though, except possibly in very specific situations, the + counter is just too good to pass it up imho, and I personally like the +crit rate too.
Oh and since I saw PUP mentioned, I did similar tests on PUP as well, with both Pummel and Vsmite. Oh please notice that of course I'm considering (for both MNK above and PUP following) "normal" Vsmite from Revenant Fists+2, not the Vere version and so no Aftermath :)
Vsmite
Unbuffed: VV > SS > GH
Buffed: SS > VV > GH
Pummel:
Unbuffed PUP: VV > SS > GH
Buffed PUP: SS > VV > GH
Altough I admit I get some strange results with Pummel, there are quite some situations where the Spreadsheet says Pummel is doing more damage than Smite, while from my very limited experience that's not quite the case? So I don't know, either I'm wrong (much likely!) or Motenten's PUP spreadsheet has some hidden error somewhere.

Just got my 85 vert last night at like 12 am lol. I was reading through this thread and saw someone mention that a breeze gorget could work with VS. I was planing to farm up a light/dark gorget but was kinda hoping i could skip it for now lol. Is this true or do i need to farm a thunder/light gorget?
On a side note, from what ive read best DoT atmas = VV,RR and apoc. while best spike dmg would be SS, RR and GH?

Pure DoT
SS AoA RR
Any situation where you want counter (if you plan on subbing war, pretty much)
AoA RR GH

Ok I am not a mnk main by any stretch of the definition but I do have the 30 advancement coins to finish the +1 weapon once I have finished the nm trials.
This is what I am planning on using as soon as I finish within the next week. My main question is, what gorget should I be using with this weaponskill and is it better than a neck with 5+ str. My other question is with VS being a 4 hit /ws do I really need to concern myself with ACC should I upgrade to hefoc mitts?
Any other constructive help would be appreciated. Thanks.
