Is this your current build or your "doing it right" build? Just wondering why you would put usu pants, maats cap, and aesir pendant on instead of hachiryu pants, aias bonnet, and a str earring? Also, I've heard (but honestly haven't tested myself) that using both a gorget and a ws belt together doesn't bring the best results. I was under the impression that gorget/bier belt was the way to go.
Personally I see in the near future probally with 95 cap update Usukane beating them for WS :/ since Shura+1 can be augmented with 11STR? now if they add augmenting for salvage gear like they hinted at 5 STR augment wouldn't be that far off for a realistic augment on usukane pants.

Black Belt beats elemental belt, always. I'm fairly sure you need something like +250 STR before they draw even.

Nope, as soon as you can start to make use of its acc, ele belt beats the ***out of black belt.
Black belt is only better not only if your acc is capped w/ black belt, but also if there is nothing else that you can switch out in other slots that would usually dip you below acc cap but ele belt brings you back to cap

Some one was asking for near max potential damage for victory smite, So i used this guy since it doesn't have a cheesy weakness to blunt.

I see a lot of talk about Beir Belt +1. Is it really worth it for 2 STR? Trying to work on my friends smite build while he is gone and ge currently uses ele belt.

Black belt is better than ele belt (WHEN you have no use for the accuracy from the ele belt).
As far as Beir+1, it's one of those "last things you upgrade" type deal. Provided acc is capped, yes sure, it's the best, but if you don't have everything else where you want it, it's not something I'd throw a lot of money in.
I personally don't see myself getting one at all. I'm betting my gil on the fact that once we're completely out of Abyssea and at 99, acc is going to very well be relevant again (it already is in voidwatch), or that they just release a better str belt all together.
So if Beir+1 is still good at 99, I'll pick one up. Until then, not worth it, in my opinion.

One other question. Rancor collar/ire +1/ele gorget? And brutal/attack or brutal/STR? I understand probably 'situational' but was curious.

Ire+1 beats ele if you need no acc. As soon as you need any acc, ele gorget wins.
As for Rancor collar, good question. I'd have to run that one through the spreadsheet.
I use brutal/aesir. I'd need a +3 or +4 str earring to use it over an attack ear. The str+2 earrings, nah.

My pal Akuji has taken a leave of abssence so trying to give him something fun to come back too. Guess I will invest in an ire +1 and start saving for a +4. Need one for myself too so that's going to be a while xD. Thanks for the help, MNK isn't exactly my specialty.

Rancor's kind of funky on MNK because you have a pretty decent shot at capping critrate with Impetus up, especially if using GH. I'd default to Rancor with Impetus down inside Abyssea, but if it was up... hm. Probably Rancor with SS, you'd need over 25 hits in a row to connect before you start overcapping critrate including Rancor. With GH and Impetus, I'd definitely go with Ire +1/gorget.

Lucky Charms, I would use an epona ring on pup for WS personally.. Not sure its the "best" option, but I'd bet ya a 6% chance to dramatically improve WS dmg is worth the -7 STR.
By luckycharms1877 2011-07-25 22:35:08
true ill have to try that. so pretty much Epona always on

AF3+2 body will more often than not beat Usukane. Usu's good for ***where you don't need attack though.

Also, if you TP in the AF3+2 body as well.. you'll have a better chance to get the ODQD procs on your aftermath

No, each piece just adds a certain % to the proc rate of the set effect.

Ok I am not a mnk main by any stretch of the definition but I do have the 30 advancement coins to finish the +1 weapon once I have finished the nm trials.
This is what I am planning on using as soon as I finish within the next week. My main question is, what gorget should I be using with this weaponskill and is it better than a neck with 5+ str. My other question is with VS being a 4 hit /ws do I really need to concern myself with ACC should I upgrade to hefoc mitts?
Any other constructive help would be appreciated. Thanks.
