Last time I used /THF was Dark Ixion back last year.

I highly doubt a SA/TA setup is going to out do /SAM in long term damage.

SAM subjob is also better for soloing. I usually go with 2-3 people to abyssea. For Voidwatch, I still go /SAM because spamming TP on the mob isn't a good idea.

Last time I used /thf was sometime in July after I heard some good things... I cried my way back to pj and changed to /sam

True story.

They really need to design a home point located in the middle of a bunch of mobs so i can just set my friends HP there and streamline the whole process of deleveling all his jobs. Right now I think the best is what? Cape Terrigan?

So you can ws more often, and deal more dmg overall?
From what im seeing here people dont get much more than 3-5k from ws /sam, i catch up enough in attack rate and make up more it way more when i WS every minute to minute and 30 seconds, and once i get a goading belt ill have a 7 hit without /sam, with /sam it would be a 6 hit.

The setup you have now, with goading, would be an 8hit with /sam.

So, you'r saying that it's better to ws once every minute with SA, than spam it every 20 seconds(or less)?
You are'nt supposed to wait for sekka timer every time you ws, you know.
Also, you attack faster /thf than we do /sam? Please, tell me how.
First of all, i wasnt asking for advice i was just saying what i do. i was sayign the only time /sam can ever come close to beating a SA torcleaver was with sekkanoki, desperate blows and merits, there is only a minute delay and if you cant get something dead within that 3 minutes, im talking mostly NM's here cause SA torcleaver 1 shots any non NM anyway, anything you get from /sam can be given attainable with /thf if you have ppl with you, brds cors etc. are you guys out soloing all your NM's? and most bigger NM's you dont want to TP feed
or be in for too long because they have a lot of 1 shotting moves. then guess whos on the ground with a longer* (lol) delay than anyone else? oh its the /sam :o

Just wanted to say about the soloing NM part;

/sam = Does allow you to solo some NM's without mage support if you time everything right. Meaning clicking seigan off mid-cast of Dread Spikes to get regular recast timer, stuns + weapon bash usage, drain => drain II timing and so on. (I've done it, but then again, I've been DRK since NA PC release unlike this bandwagoner....)

/thf = Does not allow you to solo any NM but does allow you to flee... oh wait, it just one-shotted you before you could run away.

/sam = Became the staple support job for Dark Knight's and most 2H DD's since Aht Urghan and the Samurai update was released making it a new and viable option as a support job. (/war was still my fave though, just sayin')

/thf = Died out along with exping with Dhalmel's on Bibiki Bay and the need for SC + MB Parties.

Foretre = a guy that doesn't really know what he's talking about and or a person that has not experienced Final Fantasy with actual players that use logic in battle instead of "omgaw, gtfo of the mob DRK!!! We dun want no TP spamzz!!"

Ridiculing aside, along with everything including this game, everyone must adjust to change and with change, you must accept the fact that /thf is now obsolete.

/thf had it's glory days (believe me, SATA => Spinning Slash => Light on HNM's were what made DRK's noticeable.) there's no more going back to that however, perhaps the odd occasion you want to fight something purely for the e-peen, by all means, go for it.

Saying /thf has greater survivability and dmg output than /sam is preposterous. Sitting out or away from a mob does not constitute as part of "survivability" neither does your statement of; "the only time /sam can ever come close to beating a SA torcleaver was with sekkanoki, desperate blows and merits..." You're purely talking of WS DMG only.

Just admit to it and cherish the beauty of being a Caladbolg wielder is for it's >>insane and nearly incomparable DPS<< In fact, with the latest Last Resort update and being biased to DRK, I believe DRK is the >>best<< DPS job available in the game at this time.

Lastly, if you weren't asking for any advice, then what was your initial post about asking for better equipment advice etc etc..

Lastly, if you weren't asking for any advice, then what was your initial post about asking for better equipment advice etc etc..
I never asked for better equipment, i posted what i had and i said what i generally wanted, though you guys are right i suppose, i'm just used to talking to people that have no idea what they're talking about so i get defensive, and my initial post was mostly talking the guy that wanted to see more damage out of the WS itself but i didn't understand how to quote till i actually clicked it, guess i'm just tired of /sam, only started /thfing recently and and only got calad 3-4 days ago and its been my only real time on other than doing procs to sub out for a war lol, i know drk can solo lower nms with /sam, the first thing i did when i got calad was go *** athmas up, but i dont see why everyone rejects the idea that if you have the right people with you /thf could be pretty awesome in abyssea, outside i never really use it. for the survivablity all i was talking about was much higher tier NM's in abyssea that spam powerful TP moves and jas back to back so /sams survivavilty doesnt mean much, ive been playing since the release as well and i dont see why you guys are so uptight and all the math and ***, im comfortable because im actually having fun, you guys are aware its a game right? :P

Lol, i actually haven't had anytime to be anything but mnk, other than recently i've been more over forced /thf cause i needed red dagger procs. Its annoying because i need the right people so i can start going the way i want. But in all seriousness if you want to see some random massive torcleaver damage > this guy "Quick question;

I have had my fun with the 1k+ crits on aftermath with Caladbolg on using RR/SS/AoA (This is the beauty of Caladbolg I know, the DoT!) but am naturally unhappy with my 2.5k Average Torcleaver's since my Guillotine's average higher at 2.7k.

I am currently trying to find atmas that focus on "big" number Torcleaver's and am stumped on what to put as my third atma. I currently am thinking of using; Griffon's Claw and Lion atma's.

Any help, input, and constructive criticism is appreciated. Thanks in advance!" but you lose in dps.

Even though you didn't directly ask a question, you had an input on someone else's question and by that means, you're allowing yourself to be criticized in a discussion thread.

edit: and if you're wanting to see big numbers, just change jobs, if you wanna be good at drk, use the correct atmas and stop being obsessed with "big* epeen numbers that won't impress anyone.

If I remember correctly you need goading, ace's feet, rajas, brutal and white tathlum for a 7hit that allows you to ws in pretty much whatever.
Should focus on that really, and /sam. :P
But well, for big epeen numbers /thf, RR SS (crit dmg boost is probably the best you can get) and GC or apoc, maybe?
