I'm not happy about his death. Or really anyone's. I enjoy psychology and real-life crime novels interest me as well. If someone's dead, they can't really talk about their life or reflect on the things they've done.

I would have liked to have read a book by a 42-year dictator and the kind of life he made for himself. I'd like to have read about the decisions he made that brought him to that point.

Now, there's just nothing. No stories but the ones told through others eyes. Death doesn't give any answers but for the ones who've died.

Not quite the same but...

edit: wait here is an actual book ON him.

Who can be happy about his death? I honestly doubt Libya will be much better off after all this settles. Hopefully I can be proven wrong.

I'm happy about it, 42 years of ruthless dictatorship brought to an end. People stood up for themselves and they won, good for them. Its been a rough year for villains, why not be happy? The Syrian leader is probably next, sucks to be him.

P.S. I think all the Americans here should change their flag to Ukraine, just to troll Cossack.
Who is to say these people won't fall into worse hands? It seems to be worth the risk. :\

We stood there and watched this guy for 42 years, I'm sure we can do it again.

I'm not against war, it is necessary. However, chaos for the sake of chaos isn't going to breed a new democracy. I admit that I haven't been paying attention, but do the Libyans have any plans for a new government? It seems they can easily fall under the same tyrant with a different face.

Also, I don't think not being happy about a man's death means that you "cheer for crimes against humanity." Try not to think so linearly.

I seem to remember the US being involved in bringing Saddam Hussein into power with weaponry.

Osama also with ties to the CIA. He'd be considered blowback.

It seems to me that the US has had a hand in creating these "creatures we're better off without".

It is kind of ironic how things come back around like that. At least we do clean up after ourselves in the end though I guess one could say.

I guess they always try to rationalize their actions as being the lesser of two evils. :\

Well, I wonder if this will end up lowering oil prices. I agree with Maha, in that there's always something to be learned from misdeeds and miscreancy, even if it didn't directly affect you, though.
