so many broken felt gloves and hats and coifs and str I and mnd I.... but not gonna rage quit anytime soon lool .... i mean it's just fake money right?
But seriously for those of you who have gotten the achievment after many many attempts i'd like to ask you: which do you think is the way to go- meld 5 back to back on one hat OR melding 1 to a large quantity of hats then going for 2 on all those then going for 3 on the rest...etc...etc
quit counting after i broke 8 gloves w/o getting to 3 melds ... but 0/3 going 4->5... Thanks
LMAO, I joke about rage quitting everyday i attempt this.
yesterday was a bad day....went 0/27 trying to attempt this. used close to 120 tier 1 materia. Now have to break down a bunch of lv 1 gear again =/
0/27? That's god damn terrible. Dont give up though!
mah, expected success rate is less than 1%, which isn't that bad considering a 3-3-4 triple meld is about 2% rate.
I tried a few times today (that's 3 exactly--lol I'm slow), and was able to get to 4 on the 2nd try. I don't expect that #5 will come easy, but I did want to say that 4->5 was a 24% chance. I was using Mythril Vambraces and t1 STR and DEX stuff (all 2-3 STR or DEX) with Lv50 ARM. IDK how much that 1% matters lol, but there it is for what it's worth. It may be an astronomical chance to get #5 starting from 1, but if you've already hit 4, that last meld % is straight up what it gives you, so might as well try to max it.

5 Tier I's seems pretty "real" to me....
The overall percentage, aggregated to land that meld is just negligible, and it would be stupid to try and get the crown like that.

In all seriousness, grats on your item, but when people see the achievements list, they're not going to see what materia you used. They're going to see that you got it after hundreds of others did, and that many more hundreds have achieved it as well.

I had about 20 attempts of total fails. I don't think i even got a triple.
Then I bought enough materials to make another 50 weapons and did it on the first one out of the blue xD
I used 5 Tier I materia on a Yew Longbow. I think the percentages I got were 42% 36% 28% 20.5% which ends up at about 0.86%. I think I did quite well, although that's nothing compared to the people doing it on the first try or using III's and IV's.
I love the crown though, it looks great! It's my favourite item :)

Got it this evening =). Thanks Onion. I got it off the 3rd 4-meld, and it probably took ~25-30 total items broken. 42.5% 36% 30.5% 24% on a mythril mesail.
