Thought this would be a neat and different thread to make, so here we go.

I actualy agree with that one fae (was going to post the XIV ver but I like the vocal ver ya posted)
I think picking just one song from one series or game would be hard to encompass the entire culture of gaming. I could see that theme being a good "national anthem" for Japanese RPG's, but not for all games.
Here's my suggestion:
This guy's a genius. And while it's long, it represents a whole plethora of games. Put some lyrics to it and we're golden.

I think the notion of there being a single piece of music to represent the entire culture is a tad silly. Gaming is way too diverse and gamers far too opinionated for there to be a unifying anthem.

If I had to chose one song, it would probably be the Super Mario theme. Not only is Mario the most well-known video game character, the games in the series also span nearly every genre.
Puzzle, platforming, action, sports, RPG, fighting... he's been in pretty much everything except a shooter.
Tempted as I am to throw my hat in with Guile's theme, I just think Fighting Games are too narrow an appeal to really represent the "Gamer Nation".
Zelda is like proof of intelligent design. It's a Genre Hybrid before people even started classifying games into genres.

I agree 100% with this statement.
Now I'm not a Halo fan. In fact I feel the series has become drawn out too much. But, with that said I think this song is very good as a anthem. It style is a mixture of rock, celtic (irish folk song sytle), military march, and chaior (yes i know, i sux at spelling). Musicly I feel it is a good song by itself and can fit many genres of games. Also, a anthema doesn't need lyrics. Servral nations anthems have no lyrics accompanied with them.
