I might be miss understanding and while this would indeed allow me to keep my distance. WHMs Sacrosanctity is probably the sexiest move in the game already for this. -75% MDT is just plain sexy.

Although a weaker easier to keep up version would indeed be nice. That 1 min duration, 10 min recast really hurts. Praying for merits to increase that :3

Well, Aegis sure can do this, just not as freely as the Rune Fencer will (likely) be able to.

And the chances of ever seeing an afterglow Aegis? WHM's sacrosanctity would still be the best form of pt -MDT. :p

That's right, I was simply pointing out that PLD does have those capabilities with Aegis and with Rampart.

It's not really a competition to Rune Fencer (at least from what it sounds like) but you can't rule those things out completely either.
If you look at potentially stacking them, especially in the first few days/weeks, where people try to safely find out the best tactics to beat stuff.

Maybe this all just means PLD, RUN and WHM will all work really well together ;)

For physical damage maybe but I can't see SE having it's EVA beat THF. Even with the eva+ JA but it's mainly going to be a magic tank rather than a physical damage tank.

I highly doubt they'll be an evasion tank, not against VT+ anyway. THF gets EB V or VI along with an A+ skill and still get's it's a$$ handed to it by high level monsters. It's just an example of one of their defensive abilities, I'm fully expecting ones that give it +defense / +attack / ect.

The party aoe magic resistance seems to be a decent idea but REALLY depends on degree of implementation. Unless it's something game breaking people will look at it, nod their head thoughtfully then forget it exists. The offensive abilities look interesting, depends on recast timer and how you can boost it via equip swaps. And finally their actual usefulness will depend highly on if SE gives them access to the magian weapons (not exactly emps / relics). If no OaT GSWD access, people will play the job for a few weeks, theory craft a few imaginary builds, then go back to using WAR / DRK / SAM / MNK (maybe BLU) to tank everything.
