I'm plenty excited. I just don't think people should have unreasonable expectations. Being excited and being a realist are not mutually exclusive.


Just trying to add a perspective. By that logic we shouldn't warn teens about drunk driving, safe sex etc because it's going to happen anyway.

I just want a final boss as hard as ToAU 44's Alexander when the cap was lvl 75 .-. Those were fun times.

Its not really "shitting all over them" to have a freaking discussion and inform them that like with past expansions, it did take awhile for them to complete the story.

People were discussing missions and that's why it was brought up. Hell ToAU missions were a lot of running around and few fights in the early going and even then there wasnt a lot of challenging fights.

WoTG had more of it, but the problem with that was it took 3 years for them to finish.

No one said to not get excited, merely to point out that it likely won't be chalk full of meaningful missions at start.

What makes you assume they have unreasonable expectations? Even if they do, is it your job to change that? Are you a part of the realist police?


Where did you see people saying they would have all that from the start? Seems you are debating a point that nobody brought up in the first place. To me it looks like you're just being negative in response to people being excited.

So, to have a discussion, I should either

A) Blindly agree with everyone

or

B) Just ignore the thread and don't have an opinion.

Yes, no one said "at start" Just merely saying that it might take awhile till you see any meaningful missions.

Seriously dude, not everything anyone says against XI is an act on you directly. You can disagree and enjoy the game all you want. Im glad you have something in your life you enjoy that much.

Don't be a hypocrite. It'd be just as valid for me to tell you to stop posting because you don't add anything beyond "The expansion is going to awesum gaiz".

Nobody is saying you can't get excited. You're just getting upset people are mentioning anything negative about the game like you usually do. It's really stifling if we're not allowed to discuss negative aspects of the game.


People think it's going to make people massively resub and add a shitload of content to the game. That means people are making the assumption that it'll have enough content to resub in the first place. It isn't unreasonable to remind people that XI expansions have historically been half vaporware in the first several months of their release, which means even if a bunch of people resub they are going to unsub very soon after and complain that there's nothing to do.

I get what you're trying to say, but you're also saying that if you're currently taking a break from the game then why should you be allowed to talk about the game? The official forums do that, they will kick you if you don't give them your monthly payment. If you feel that way then you might enjoy it over there more, I don't particularly like the design of the site so I stay away from it unless I'm transferring news posts over to here. I just think it's a little greedy to kick members if they currently aren't paying the subscription when all they want to do is discuss with people.

I think the large majority of people who speak out truly love the game, but feel that the current state of the game is unacceptable. I don't believe that you should have to spend the monthly payment each month just to talk about it, I'm not going to give them my money if I feel that the content is half-assed and isn't very fun or interesting.

I believe that the Play-as-a-Monster system will bring back a lot of players, but I'm not sure for how long. It might be one of those things that is fun for a month or two but just dies out. The expansion coming up in late March will be the deciding factor if people continue to play this game or quit for good. I feel that they have a great opportunity to do good but they have to put the effort into it to make it shine.

I love FF games and use to be a diehard fan that loved every one of them until the PS2 came along. I love their games but I'm not going to blind myself to the fact that I'm not having fun with what they are providing. I'm not just going to take everything they give us and treat it as a sparkling diamond. I'm going to judge it fairly and if I feel it is good then I'll play it, if not then I'll save it for later.

I don't like the fact that they took almost 4-5 years to finish wotg. The expan doesn't even have voice overs or anything that take huge resources.

They just have this terrible idea of release incomplete projects for players (expans) to finish them on a time frame, in order to keep sub trilled to see whats coming next. But that strategy didn't work with ff14 uh?.

Well, he isn't exactly wrong in regards to the time it took them to finish WoTG.

Am I the only one excited for what a neat looking place it might be? If I remember right, the art made it look like an awesome tropical looking city.

I would absolutely love if a place that's actually aesthetically pleasing became the new hub for everyone to hang around. As much as I love Jueno for being the traditional loiter spot, a chance to feel like I'm always somewhere exotic would be cool.

The biggest mistake with WoG and how long it took... Was that they made their 3 month patches like normal but they did it in a way that the main story had 3 missions and the nations had 3 missions... then after that update they did the next patch which is was either the main story and left the nations alone... Then the next patch after that 3 months later they did the nations missions and left the main story alone.

So basically every 6 months you were continuing the main story or the nations story... and it did take forever to finally finish that.

Unlike the old expansions where they just had the main story to focus on.

something about this website is invoking some hope in me that i've not felt since ToAU, and holy ***these monster designs are amazing

Its gonna cost 30 dollars, so it better be pretty damn awesome (as good as/better than CoP/ToAU).
Moreso to justify paying for a copy for an alt acct too.

1 of the 8 new monster is killer butterflies... ok i'll buy 1 copy for that alone. Guessing at least 1 new blu spell per monster?
