I cant use the 3D on the 3DS it hurts my eyes (I AM AWARE YOU CAN TURN IT OFF), but why waste the money when I cant use the component it was made for? 3D is a stupid trend anyway. 3D technology has been around since 1915, this isn't something that is new, and has become much easier to develop over the past 10 years. Companies are continually pushing for advances in 3D technology, and have produced 3D TVs, computer monitors, gaming systems and handhelds, even internet browsers. Next gen consoles will support 3D TVs, games will be developed with 3D in mind, and it will continue to flood the market spreading wherever companies can push it.
3D technology isn't just going to go away now, it's going to be based on your eyes and if you can handle it or not. If you can and you enjoy it then you have the technology to enjoy it, if you can't then you can use the same technology and just turn 3D off. You're either going to be someone that can handle it or you can't, and based off of that you can pick what you'd like to watch or play.
I personally enjoy watching 3D movies, it doesn't hurt my eyes and I don't get headaches from watching it. However, many people I know prefer 2D over 3D because it does hurt their eyes and they do get headaches. Some people are going to love it, some are going to hate it, and it's as simple as how you react when you watch it.
I think it's a great idea, and I don't mind too much that companies are trying to make millions off of the technology. Though I think it's stupid how many 3D movies are coming out, and I refuse to go see a movie if it has "3D" in the title.
The first movie I watched in 3D was Puss N Boots (took my nieces out). It was a cool experience, but I don't think I'll watch many more movies in 3D because it did hurt my eyes probably because I wear contacts.
It's only stupid that they try to redo everything in 3D, I mean Monsters Inc. was a great movie but I wouldn't pay to go see it again. I guess it's worth it to people who love the movies or taking their kids who haven't seen it, for the first time (such as seeing The Lion King).

Is it ok for me to say this?
I want shitty graphics. My favorite games are simple graphic games. I personally think that high quality graphics get in the way of developing a great story, and very few games can balance graphics, story, and gameplay.
I don't need it to look pretty, I just need it to be fun and that's what simple graphic games provide. I get hooked and continue to play, while fancy graphic games are more like a movie and I just play once, not really thrilled with it and it was okay.

I would have to agree with that.
For instance, I just noticed and can't stop noticing now that there is an advertisement for a free online anime "game" to the right of my text box. The advertisement features what LOOKS like a 15 year old girl with boobs each bigger than my cat being covered only 1/3 of the way by electrical tape. Oh and she has a Ninja mask on, so it's serious.
I think their hook and target audience are no mystery, and I'd be surprised if there's much of a game there at all. Like DoA "Extreme" Beach NudityBall. Whether it's nakedness or shiny graphics, it's all the same hook and generally denotes a game with little to think about.

Here's an article from 2011 where Anouma talks about remaking LttP in 3D.
"During the interview we asked Aonuma if there was any chance that he would ever consider making another 2D Zelda game. While he hasn't been looking into it personally, he confirmed that Miyamoto has. "Well actually, even Mr. Miyamoto himself has been talking recently about going back to the 2D Zelda games," he said, "in particular the ones that were designed with multiple levels to the world like A Link to the Past, and taking those 2D graphics and recreating them in 3D so that you could get a sense for the depth of those worlds. That's something that might be interesting to do, so I would say there might be a possibility of something like that in the future."

So not completely out of left field.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past sequel coming to Nintendo 3DS this holiday
Nintendo will release a new Legend of Zelda game for Nintendo 3DS based on the world of A Link to the Past later this year, the company announced today. A sequel to the Super NES original, the game will feature new mechanics, including the ability for Link to become a 2D drawing and move along walls.
Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America, says the 3DS sequel will "reinvigorate the flat 2D world of A Link to the Past with a sense of height and volume" by utilizing the stereoscopic 3D capabilities of the Nintendo 3DS. The game, which does not have a final title in North America, will feature "an original storyline and all new dungeons."
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 2, as the game is titled in Japan, will be released sometime this holiday in North America and next year in Japan.
A video of the game will be available to download from the Nintendo 3DS eShop later today.
Update: Nintendo confirmed that the new Zelda game set in the world of A Link to the Past is being developed by series producer Eiji Aonuma and his team at Nintendo EAD.
Umm Nintendo hasn't said whaeter or not this is a squeal or a reimagionation of Trifroce of the Gods (hate the english name A Link to the Past. Makes absolutely no sence for this game) Also Reggie never said "an original storyline and all new dungeons." You can watch the Nintendo Direct. It was never said.
While I hope this is a squeal too the video from the dungeon shown look alot like the 3rd dungeon in Triforce of the Gods, so I'm thinking this is a reimagion on it.

technically speaking, eventually it will hurt anyone's eyes, until we get actual holographic technology.
I'm with Faelar, 3D is a severely stupid trend.
It doesn't bother me most of the time, but I prefer to not watch movies that are recorded in lower visual quality for the gimmick that is "3D" then again I refuse to go to the movies anyway, since SOPA.

Sunlight will eventually hurt your eyes. Old TVs can hurt your eyes. I mean come on, everything now an days hurts your eyes. Someone post Lewis Blacks eggs are bad joke and you'll see what I mean.
*edit* If you dont wanna hurt your eyes you can turn off the 3D on the 3DS.

the eyes are not meant to focus and converge on two different points at once, it's unnatural.
It's a severe strain on the eyes.
3D is a severe gimmick, that I really wish would pass. Until we get holograms, /drool.

Couldn't care less if the game is 3D. I just hate playing games on a portable gaming system. If they want my money, port the game to a console. Rather enjoy playing a game on a large screen TV with surround sound.

Split-systems are a scam. The AVG did a piece on some old game system that cost $700.00 USD on its release. Don't remember the console name. In any case, all companies STILL want $700.00 per release wave. Nothing has changed. Sega went on to try and mask it more by releasing the CD and 32X add-ons, claiming that with their power combined, you could play much greater games. Unfortunately, all developers could think to do at that time was spam awful (all meaning of the word) FMV segments during their usually equally awful games. $700.00 +/- down the drain for people with a new full Sega set.
To get to the point, Sony and Nintendo and God knows who else are following suit. They know it's unrealistic at the time to demand $700.00 for their devices individually, so they updated the claim. Make a couple of so-called "stand alone" consoles, say that they "compliment each other" or:
...breathe new life into the (Insert bogus console here)...
...in order to still reap the $700.00 instead of just the $300.00 or $400.00. Parents are most vulnerable to this tactic since they have the cash and the fire lit underneath them.
The ploy isn't even the worst part. The worst part is, everybody, or most everybody KNOWS!!! If anyone quotes me for anything from this, let it be "Who am I to tell you what you should or shouldn't buy?". That's the main point I want to make. I just wish we as consumers did more to prevent these dumb and expensive interconsole mating disasters. With the $300.00 bucks you DON'T spend on an extraneous console, you get all of your movies in theater for the rest of the year FREE... with popcorn. That's my gift to you.

Already been stated it is not a remake. It takes place in the same world but no idea yet if its connected or how it is.

The only 3D technology I'm able to see is the RealD 3D, which some theaters around here use. The effects are amazing and I really hate how I can't see it on the 3DS.
Hopefully one day 3D games will come with multiple 3D modes so more people can view it.

Too bad it's not a remake, but a sequel is the next best thing.
A Link to the Past is my favorite Zelda title.
Yeah, sorry, this makes no sense. How is a sequel the next best thing? Why is a remake better? Are you one of those that keep Call of Duty successful because you keep buying the same game every year? If all we got were remakes, the market wouldn't grow. Wanna play ALTTP? You can play on the SNES, BS-X, GBA, GCN (With GBA player playing the GBA port), DS (playing the GBA port), Wii (VC), Wii U (Wii's VC), etc. That's a lot of ways to play ALTTP. How many ways can you play the sequel? None till it comes out. New games > Remakes if you enjoy industry and creative growth.
By Kimble2013 2013-04-17 22:51:36
Yeah, SNES games look great and stand the test of time. Not sure why you would rather have a remake over a brand new game.

with the wii u you would think making a ds game extension thing might not be that hard, and 3ds games would be awesome too, just dont make them 3d if there's no other choice.

***. Now I have to buy a 3DS I was doing so good avoiding it!
A Link to the Past was FANTASTIC and challenging, something to mark on my list you know Zelda: Ocarina of Time has been on the 3DS since it came out, right?!
I think it looks much better in 3d than it did on n64. When remaking, they colored a few things here and there, (water dungeon got enough color that I don't get lost anymore) and basically left everything alone. I think its the only game I played for that system to date though. now I'm gonna get a 2nd game to play!
edit: for using the 3DS, make sure you read about distance from eyes stuff, I notice if I have the system in the correct place directly facing me there is no issues with the 3d feature, but if its at a different spot my eyes will hurt in like less than a minute.
