I understand digital distribution perfectly thanks. What if 2 kids play on their own account and have their own gamerscore/achievements and want to play the single player game on their own account?
yes... you clearly do

if it's like the original XBox 360 which I would imagine it would be, two ways around that.

#1 you can have a master account logged in at all times that would give license to play all purchased games and #2 that the first system that the game is downloaded to has perma rights to the game ALONG with the account that purchased it. So no matter who uses it or who is logging in, they will have full rights to the game.

Microsoft offers a free service once a year to transfer over perma rights to a new console once a year on the 360, incase of breaking, upgrading or stealing ect. I would imagine that they would also do something like that for One

Silly console gamers, don't crap yourself

I can assure this is will work just like steam does, and funny enough for Microsoft very own Windows Market Place and GFWL Market place works.

I.E.

You get a game, the game comes with a unique key. What you are REALLY paying for is the Key, the disc is just there so you don't have to download the game.

Once you bind the key to your account, BOOM you own the game on that account, you pop in the disc, install it, then pop the disc in a paper shredder if you want.

but lets say you wanna bring the game over to a friends house or whatever reason? I'll have to pay a few to install it !! Nope.

How it would work is that you'd log in on your account, pop the disc in, it'll install, boom, you can play it. Or if you lost the disc or shredded it like I said earlier, you can download it again directly from microsoft.

that "Paying money to download it again" is most assuredly people that don't understand digital distribution. If there is a fee, the fee will come in place to transfer that original unique key to another account.

the whole digital thing is a brave new world, I can see why people are freaked out about it, but trust me, being a user of steam for 8 years. You'll learn to love it and that first time you loose/misplace/break a disc on accident, you'll be enlightened XD

And then you buy a used game and .... yes you have to pay extra fees?

Yep, that is, unless you make a separate account for each game that you own, so you can trade log in along with the game.... but I mean that'd be pretty silly.

Tell him about required connect Kinect and No Used games, that'll keep his fanboy flames a burnin'!

just don't remind him that Sony is doing this same thing with used games and they have a required Playstation Eye camera ^^

But, it really shouldn't shock ANYONE that happened.

Like i was saying from Day one, I'm sure the "Always Online" thing was for Dev Kits ONLY and someone heard about it and ran wild with it.

My consoles never move so thats not a big deal. But I really don't care about using my hands to navigate a dashboard which will rarely be used for anything other than playing the game. Hopefully they have the option to just load the game upon startup so I don't even have to look at the dashboard, which is what I do on the 360.

I could be completely wrong about what Catnipthief was getting at, but when I read the words "limited mobility" I don't think of an electronic device that's hard to travel with. I think of a person who has trouble moving their own body due to some sort of condition. For them this Kinect thing could truly be a problem. Perhaps they are just supposed to DEAL WITH IT? I'm not too sure.

While I don't have limited mobility, I have no interest in these sorts of gimmicks. I don't want my console to photograph me, respond to my voice, or require me to flail about. I don't want to play on a tablet unless I'm traveling. I just want a powerful system with a simple, well designed controller, and a vast library of great games to choose from.

The feature creep is getting a little too creepy for my tastes.

2 big things I want know about that controller.

one
the buttons look alot closer to the surface and not like the 360 controller... are they like The Razor Onza controller? where they are clicky like a mouse button? if so THAT WOULD BE THE BEST THING EVER.

seriously. love that controllers buttons.

two
I was hearing during the conference that the triggers would be 'Dynamically adjusting' ... does that mean that a game can loosen strengthen the triggers on the fly? Like in Driving games if your car was getting stuck the triggers would tighten up? or if you were shooting guns in a FPS and the clip emptied would the trigger loose all resistance like you're pulling the trigger of a gun with no resistance or something?

I could see that being realllllyyyy cool if that is what they meant.

I'm sure that everything you can do with the connect (unless it's a game specially designed to use only it) you'll be able to do with the controller.

and hell even if you don't use the motion aspect of it, the voice recognition on the kinect is REALLY good and pretty damn useful. I'd only imagine a new one to be even better.

I'm waiting to see what all of the companies are doing come E3.

I am about 98% sure i am getting an Xbox Oni... i mean one.

I am about 34% sure i will be getting a PS4.

PS3 i bought only because of Disgaea, and i had hoped for a Suikoden 6 (and i cry a little each night about it), which Konami has never released on a non Sony platform. Also MGS 4.

So for me it's really about the games.

Which to be fair... The games i saw mentioned on the reveal werent really my thing... though remedy's game may be promising. i'm burnt out on FPS games (unless you happen to have some form of Bioshock or borderlands in the title) so i havent played a COD game in quite some time. I tend to like single player infinitely moar than multiplayer of just about anything. Sports games are meh most of the time, and to me i would only play hockey and fooseball (the debil) if anything.

Show me teh games, plox.

the camera is a 100% confirmed needs to be attached always, comes with the system ect ect thing. They said it during their thing, hence why the controllers have those glowing blue strips on them.

the used game thing however isn't 100% but... they're reallllyyyy skirting around it, they won't give a clear yes or no, they did say like you can play your games that you own on other systems but change the subjects when buying second hand games comes into play.

so while they might make it so you can use second hand games on it... wouldn't shock me in the slightest if they had a system like what Microsoft is doing.

They were probably waiting for MS and E3 to come out to soften the blow.

Actually each percentage given was out of a separate 100 percent.

I am 100 percent sure that you are a hooker in a linkshell populated with hookers. (we are in the same shell)

they worded it funny though, it wasn't cut and dry like that, it was like being able to play games that you own on other systems ect. Also Jack Trenton came out and said he was opposed to blocking used games... but he doesn't make the hardware

just saying, don't feel shocked or betrayed when it happens, cause it probably will.

also, don't be mad at Sony or MS for it, I'm sure the major game publisher are the people pushing this 'no used games' thing the hardest.

now why would they go about doing that, HMM HMM HMM

It took one generation for them to begin using the serial number feature of Blu-Ray discs...

I remember, back in early 2006 SONY suggested they could restrain the sale of used games and people went into rage mode instantly.

So yes BLURAY discs have serial numbers since day 1 but SONY never did anything with that feature. So Microsoft decided to put it to use...

well I can understand that, 7 years ago why people would do that.

Cause how games and movies worked is that they would make a pressing of a game or movie, usually just one with varying. so once they would sell out they'd be gone. if they didn't sell fast enough or if stores didn't buy in bulk, they would make anymore.

So that is why restricting used games would be pissing on the consumers because if you wanted any game that wasn't a huge success a few years or even months after it came out, you'd be screwed.

but in the day and age of digital distribution this really isn't so much of a problem. Hell on Steam you can buy games that came out 8 years ago no problem. so if the entire catalog of PS4 and One games were online and able to buy at any time, that would take out the main and greatest reason to buy used games. imo.

if your reason for buying used games is simply to save a few bucks, be a smarter consumer then.

Meh, I'll just wait for E3 before I rush to judgment, this conference just showed Microsoft wants to maintain the status quo. They pushed out Madden, Fifa, Forza, COD, Halo TV, the games that sold well on the 360. Sony ran Bungie out there to show us Destiny and announce exclusive content for the PS4. That impressed me. Still waiting on Microsoft.
