It's sad SE won't do something similar, but once again EQ launching a new progression server may 20th if anyone is interested.

Is this going to actually be "classic eq from database back ups with original versions of the client?"

'cause if all it is is "we turned off all the zones but the originals, but they are still exactly the same as they are in live, and we'll gradually activate newer zones" then it's worthless.

Not exact, they have actually put in a big amount of effort though, even with the beta, to roll back a lot of stuff to slowly give it a similar feel.

Interesting thing though, they recently approved of project1999 and lots of speculation that they are in talks of somehow using code from p99 in the future to make a progression server to the T from the beginning.
