For something so simple, its addicting lol Only complaint so far is how dead the online is :/ Went to check for a room to farm Fulmacite because I figured 4 people could make it faster. Zero Ramuh rooms. Open my own, sat for about 45 mins with not a single person, so I close the room, go to search any room, only found like 6 rooms, all filled with 1-2 people... I mean, yeah, it's only been about a week since release? But you'd think with the FF name on it and how it was hard to find one in stock, that there'd be a ton more people actually doing stuff online. I.... was not even aware that you could browse or make rooms.... I mean we had a group of 4 tap dancing around like idiots for up to 2 weeks before the release date and kept talking about it daily though. That's interesting lol. You've gotta figure though that people either already have friends to play with via friend list, or people generally aren't that bright and the general population isn't that far yet. Playing XI generally means you're a step above the rest in learning/familiar things or expectations for a game like this. If you check the first post, a nintendo friend code link was setup. Try adding people from here. If nothing I could help sometime when my group isn't on. Yeah, I'm goofing off looking at the rooms right now trying to see if I saw any names I recognized from either here or from BlueGartr but I don't see anything. I selected story level "Mine or Less" and I get 6 options. I'd try for any but I'd probably get destroyed by a 7* NM when I'm still working on 2* quests. Just unlocked a new quest to kill a Triple HP and Strength Aberrant Ifrit with knuckles and no items lol.

This game really went ninja gaiden dark souls after 7* on me. I can't mess up 1 block or I die now. I have to spend 70% of my time blocking and try to sneak in an attack or something VERY VERY carefully on Paladin. Fights also take me almost the entire time limit..... Man I'm trying to finish the mutations on my abilities, you think upgrading gear is expensive? I just ate 400k CP upgrading and still not finished. To stop people from making one of the mistakes I made, if you can get Regen on a healing ability DO NOT try to stack it with HP Recovery. Regen heals a % of your HP making it insanely powerful. HP Recovery doesn't have much of an effect at all it seems, with Chakra anyhow. Got my BST "AF" last night. Was always one of my favorite designs in FFXI.
Also noticed I can dual wield now, sadly can not offhand a club. Seems like if you dual wield they have to be the same weapon type. It also does not seem to affect my damage on skills, just allows longer/faster melee combos, though I didn't have a TON of time with it to confirm that. Also sad to report that full BST AF did not bestow upon me any extra monster load :( I was hoping it would boost it to 400 just to allow some more variation in monster team setups. Man, once you get into the meat of this game it gets hard to put it down lol. Just fought Ifrit anbd Shiva, beat both 1st try. I think Shiva was a bit easier than Ifrit though.
Did the Thief/Time Mage quest right after Ifrit.... that Behemoth got RAPED, lol. Just beat the "game" and unlocked 6* quests... still havent found a single scythe xD wtf
Also not sure I can use a scythe after using sword for so long. sword is so mobile and good. tried axe for a few rounds and it felt so slow and sluggish. not to mention it wasnt nearly as mobile. most mobs would dodge my slow wind-up attacks. Holy ***, Time Mage is Uber. It's like BLM on crack. Gravity owns on bosses lol. It was funny see'ing Ramuh's HP chunk down 25% at the start lol.

Yeah Axe is not super fast for sure, I have overcome a lot of it by putting skill link mutations on stuff, but hard to get it to actually work with my rotation. At one point I got a skill link for a skill I hadn't even unlocked yet. Yessss my copy is flying, I'll get it sometime this week!!!
Grumpy Cat said: » Well this doesn't seem like it will be a fun transition. do axe skills at least out damage sword by a decent amount? Also man lvl 50 black knight companion wrecks shop. You can only dual wield certain things but if you dual wield it has to be the same on both hands. Mawstering class usually opens up Dual Wielding, and not all weapons can be dual wielded. Also anyone saying game is too easy go online with 4 friends and attempt to fight an eidolon. For one, there's some lag, but two, holy ***one of the fights I found cakewalk to be offline was extremely difficult online. The HP was so high. It was maybe because they were undergeared, but it was fun and it made me think of like, online builds and making other classes. It's fun. Just beat Dryad offline, wasn't too bad on Time Mage, most annoying aspect was when she teleports to the other side of the arena from where you are and makes you chase after her... if you use sprint it hurts AP bad, lol.

Hate that fight so much.... i'm sure its easier on THF, but man does it hurt my Drk Dryad was a piece of cake on Ranger. Still a 2* quest but yeah, easy peasy fight.

Also man lvl 50 black knight companion wrecks shop. I just unlocked Berserk and ... forgot the name but it is a charge attack and gets a bonus when using Berserk. One shotted a red dragon (with a crit). Also I see now with my Mastery of BST that I unlocked the ability to use a scythe... but there are none? I can not craft or buy any and there are no skills listed for it. Another unlock with progression? (seems odd seeing how easily you unlock DRK which I would assume uses/can use scythe) I think later today I'm going to shift directions and give either Samurai or Dragoon a shot. Paladin is just going to have to be my group job for my friends. It's a total shitfest brick wall of frustration after 7* when playing solo.
I don't have the patience or willpower to block a thousand moves every fight any more and be completely too weak to do super good damage. It's great for learning fight mechanics though. Dark Knight and Geomancer look fun too though. So many damn choices. XI all over again for me lol. I see the tab now after i did drk mastery quest but cant see one listed to craft yet. I know its late in the game you get it just not sure how late. But ya tldr scythe uses Axe skills Pwolf Drkgawd said: » But ya tldr scythe uses Axe skills Which is kind of disappointing imo :/ 20? jobs and over half share the same skills with each other. Like drk and bst, besides tame/darkness, so far they play exactly the same. The same can be said for the ones who use swords. I'm only about halfway through 4* but I hope I'm missing something and they give jobs their own unique skills besides the starting one. Tbh, that would have been better to have done from the start, rather than having the jobs play exactly the same because you're using the same weapon. So how are people playing melee jobs at 7* +?
On Sage I get 1 shot by almost everything the eidolons do, even with up to snuff gear. I think Megaflare from Abberant Bahamut has killed me every single time he's used it, and I'm usually only getting hit by the last 2 ticks. Can't imagine being up close to him and getting hit with most of the blast. Asura.Leonlionheart said: » So how are people playing melee jobs at 7* +? Can't imagine being up close to him and getting hit with most of the blast. Big thing is to make sure you level up your skills. The effects are massive. For healing stuff I STRONGLY recommend Regen since it heals % rather then a HP Recovery+. Chakra for example: HP Recover 8/8 = 300 HP more = not worth it. Regen 1/8 from 5% to 75%. More augments increase proc rate. So, like Franks Red Hot Sauce, put that ***on EVERYTHING! Also on pets: The FF Pokemon! Each pet is unique. EVEN IF THEY ARE THE SAME BREED! -Pets have IVs like Pokemon. Sadly you cannot check these till you pay to turn them usable. You can check there IVs by looking next to their stats for arrows. Red means lower then average Green is above average, double arrows mean a larger effect. - Some pets can get bonus traits. Far as I know Centurions are amazing tanks as they can get 2 Malice +200 traits on them. - There will be a skill (not a trait) with a + next to it on the management page. This is the skill they will use if you hit the command button on the touch screen. - Pets can be fused to give them up to a 50k exp boost. No idea if there are any other effects then just exp from fusing. - Pets stats & traits are made when they are made usable not when you capture the atmalith. Recommend saving before turning in atmas and reloading till you get a good roll. So wait ... this game makes abusing pets mandatory? I'm about to go pickup my copy today and hearing that you need to use abuse pets to avoid OP cheap moves kinda sunk my expectations.
Right now I don't really use my pets, starting 8* playing as a mage. That being said I used them almost exclusively up until about 5-6* quests and just supported them. Now though, they kind of act as meat bags and just take some agro so I can nuke more and run away less. When they die all it really means to me is that I have to be more careful when I start nuking.
Not sure I'd call any move "cheap." Golden Rajang in high G Rank quests in MH4U is cheap- his tells are insanely short and even then he can slam out a move that will deal 90%-100% of your health in any direction he wants. The only move I have been repeatedly unable to avoid is high rank Megaflare because it has a HUGE pull in effect, so it's in a way cheap. (I've avoided it maybe once by running far away after Aberrant Bahamut uses Absorb -> Rage combo, using Ethers to keep my stamina up, and then sprinting as fast as possible in the opposite direction when Megaflare does go off.) Asura.Saevel said: » So wait ... this game makes abusing pets mandatory? I wouldn't say it is mandatory, but the game is more designed around the idea you are playing with more people, or pets in lieu of that. It still has a pretty interactive combat system though, I bet you would like it, pets or no pets. Asura.Saevel said: » So wait ... this game makes abusing pets mandatory? I wouldn't call it "abusing", the game is designed to be played with pets or people... but I mean I've yet to "Need" a pet but Im only up to 2* quests/Eidolon battles. I imagine though 7~* is designed with 4 people in mind though Holy ***lol Counters "Next attack will be a Critical hit" works with Trance moves.
Megaflared Bahamut for 36k >_> Clinpachi said: » Job Unlocking Paladin - Collect a 15% average of weapons, shields, head, body, legs, and accessories combined. Ok so, I'm a little confused, maybe it's the wording, but is it not the total % of all of those combined to equal 15% to unlock pld? I'm sitting at a total of about 23%? for weapons/armor/accessories, going off of the notebook, and still nothing.
