If you're gonna make a smaller file version of any of Amel's stuff I'd suggest the south sandy shops first

So ended up just reinstalling the game. Loaded an earlier megapack before the Reisenjima zone was added and that worked fine. Once that zone was added it was toast again.

Thanks Kireek, if you could kindly advise the lower jeuno dat as well so I could change it to default, as yesterday I got black screen after zoning into Lower Jeuno at the most critical inconvenient time during raid. If it has been mentioned already somewhere in this thread I apologize in advance. Also if you or anyone knows any Amelia zone with potential black screen please do advise.

At this point I am fed up and could care less for HD environment at the potential risk of interrupting gameplay.

Lower jeuno is rom / 1 / 41.dat

also if you have bump mapping on in settings you will want to change

rom / 92 / 92.dat

92.dat is the bump mapping file for lower jeuno, Amelila updated both.

My reisenjima zone is completely bugged. reset game 4 times, zoned 3. completely black every time and can't move. never seen it this bag, normally a simple relog would fix it. How do I revert this rom to the original?

Had the same issue, but you should always make a backup in case these mods don't end up working for you. Tell a friend to send you the rom if you forgot to make a backup (the rom #s are mentioned 3 post above you). PM me if you still cant get the original rom.

Are you using DGVoodoo?

Amelias mods are very very large (I'm working on making smaller versions), there is a setting on dgvoodoo to limit how much ram each instance uses and I think it could be that.

If you have it set to a limit of say 256, reisen alone will take up half of that limit when bump maps are added.

Southern San d'oria mod

This is a rework of Amelilas HD mod, I reduced the size from 62 meg to 36 meg, so it loads faster when you zone. (almost all the textures in southern sandy were made by Amelila as were a lot of the textures in the side rooms).

Fixed a problem with the small bushes.
Changed the clouds back to vanilla (if you use uncompressed textures in the ffxi config these look better imo)
Updated a few textures including doors and the spiral floor texture from the lower jeuno mod.
Changed the tent texture, was causing shimmering.

Updated all the side rooms (I had to greatly reduce the size of the side rooms textures in Amelilas side room mods to fix the issue with them causing game ceases, no way around it).

If you just want to use the sandoria mod but not the others just use the 31.dat.

Mod list:South Sandy 31
(left turn from mog house) room 1 - 116, room 2 - 115, room 3 - 120
lion springs - 106
stores weapons - 108, armor - 109
Chocobo stable - 105
west side - left branch
room 1 112 (this room has a crash issue if you enter from certain angles, this is a game issue not the mod)
room 2 left - 107, food store on right 110
(leather guild) 103, (leather shop upstairs) 104
room 3 left - 117 room 4 right - 113
west side - right branch
room 1 - 119, room 2 - 118, room 3 - 114
Counts manor - 111

Yeah the custom clouds among other things made the zone really dark.

Since Amelila didn't finish it I decided to do Port Sandoria, most of the textures are from Amelilas S and N Sandoria mods so all the 3 zones will look the same.

Original file size = 6.5 MB
Modded file size = 18.5 MB

Should be no issues with black-screen etc since the file size is still pretty small.

I was stupid and didn't take a backup, can someone post the DAT files for the original interiors? I am not really a fan of how much they clash with the original aesthetic.

(Yes, I tried a file check, and no it didn't replace them)

Thanks! I found your originals for San d'Oria, but Amelilia didn't include backups so I'm still needing at least the Mog Houses.

Hey all, awesome work on everything so far. It looks really amazing ^_^

I went to mod my fenrir mount with the HD Avatar, and now whenever I summon the mount he pops up in running mode even if I am idle.

Is the Fenny mount dat that different from the orig avatar dat??

If you use the avatar fenrir in place of the mount fenrir they have different animations in the dat file so it won't work properly yeah, I've modded all the monsters, trusts and mounts I missed in previous mod packs but I haven't zipped them up yet since it's so many files.

I'll post the fenrir mount one anyway.

Fenrir mount is:

rom/352/114.dat

(backup the original file since this is just the mod download without backup)

If you use Wasenshis REMA mods and have experienced black screen or any stutter issues I would suggest using these:

It's all of their mods in one zip with some of the larger ones reduced in size, they should all look near identical but since some textures are smaller you'll save video ram and will run better. I didn't reduce them all, just the ones that were overly large and where doing so didn't ruin the look.

https://tinyurl.com/y6xgkuc5

The main issue is the size of Reisen / lower Jeuno (in combination I think with using dgvoodoo) but I'm reducing unnecessary video ram usage in all mods in the thread where I can, before posting more.

Anyone else have Reisenjima break? Last night I zoned in and I was missing the zone, everything else loaded, but the zone itself was pitch black and I couldn't move.
Was just wondering if anyone else was experiencing the same before I tried reinstalling.

I've never had this problem before only until recently where I had to multibox for 1 day then this ***started to happen ever since, seems multibox was the reason it was triggered somehow. Even now without multiboxing I am randomly getting an encumbered character with a the pitch black screen when enterting reisin zone, and have to shutdown every time this happens, very annoying.

If I would re-check all files, is there a way to re-apply the HD pack excluding amelia's dats?

Amelilas Reisen zone dat is 112 megs, the original is 12 meg.

I reduced the size of the mod (I could of made it a lot smaller but I'm trying to do it in steps to keep the quality as close as possible), this one is 84 meg which is saving 28 meg. You should notice very little difference in the quality of the textures.

Try it and see if it fixes the problems.

Reisenjima smaller version of Amelias HD zone mod.

https://tinyurl.com/y4w2s6f2

Rom > 342 > 73.dat

I reduced this mod down in size again to 70 meg, with little difference in quality (improved the quality of some textures from the last one too), unless you stare at stuff really close you won't notice any difference but will save a lot of video ram.

Undersea ruins and all salvage areas.

8 meg > 13 meg on average (5 zones).

Undersea ruins is a dark zone, so they won't look as bright as this. This pic is taken in a zone viewer. Regardless gives a before and after comparison.

XIpivot is a Windower and Ashita plugin made by Heals that allows you to use mods without overwriting any of the games files.

It makes it easier to use and remove all mods or test them without messing with the actual game files, this can be done with a simple text command in the game so you can disable all mods instantly.
You can also permanently delete them all again, very easily if you want to just by deleting the folder location where the mods are stored and disabling the addon (if you have it set to run in the init.file).
It also means updates won't cause any issues by replacing mods.

The only negative I can see with the testing I've done is you'll use more hard drive space.

From what I can see it works by just telling the game to check for a file at the mod folder location before using the actual files at the installed location.

Initial forum post:

https://www.ffxiah.com/forum/topic/53575/xipivot-rom-mods-without-overwriting-originals/

Download location:

https://github.com/Shirk/XIPivot/releases

Windower one:

https://github.com/Shirk/XIPivot/releases/download/v0.3.0/XIPivot_Windower_v0.3.0.zip

Download the file above for windower, copy the folder inside the zip (XIpivot/) to your windower/addons folder. Then inside the XIPivot folder create a folder called data and then inside that create another folder called DATs.

Inside there make a folder called FFXI-HD (this is where all mods go).

If you just want to test it, download the file below, which is a replacement for port sandoria.

https://tinyurl.com/yxa96lbw

Inside the zip, from the mod folder copy the rom folder (and all it's contents) over to the windower/addon/XIpivot/data/dats/ffxi-hd folder.

So it should be: addons/XIPivot/data/DATs/FFXI-HD/rom/0/113.dat

Start the game up and type /console lua l xipivot

You'll get an onscreen text message in red saying it loaded in the windower console text.

type:
/console pivot add FFXI-HD
to add that folder (this only needs to be done once since it will store that location), then zone into port sandoria (or out of and back into if you're already in it) to load the modded version of the zone.

If you want it to load every time you start ffxi without typing it every time goto windower/scripts, right click and edit init.txt and type lua l xipivot on a fresh line somewhere, then save it.

To unload xipivot and all mods type /console lua u xipivot
