For anyone with a Mithra, check this idle stance if you don't already use it. It changes your idle from the normal very stiff idle into a more relaxed idle stance used by some of the mithras in windy woods. I've used this mod for years.

Backup the files before you change them.

Made by Korith.

I might make smaller versions of Amelilas Gusta mods later as I did with reisen and lower jeuno if I have time, regardless the dat numbers are:

North and south gustaberg dats

rom/0/124.dat
rom/0/123.dat

Amelila also changed the bump map files so change these too.

rom/92/25.dat
rom/92/24.dat

In-fact, if you have bump mapping on (if you don't the game isn't using them anyway) you can probably just change the two lower dats back to normal and fix the black screen issues, cause that will save a ton of memory alone.

The original model edit was created by a Japanese modder, I upgraded the textures a bit. There is an issue with this mod in that **it can crash the game when you swap gear in certain places**

If you blink from a gear swap in busy places like port jeuno wearing this it might crash to desktop, same for inside your moghouse if you have certain glow furnishings like jewel egg. If you blink in an outside zone or not busy zone it should be fine.

For anyone that wants to try it out though:

Mithra only.

rom/149/122.dat (backup the original file)

https://tinyurl.com/yy6knk7o

Don't include this in any packs, as I say it can crash the game under certain circumstances.

Optimized and updated Amelilas Gustaberg South and North mods.

Reduced the size from:
North 104mb to 63mb
South 92mb to 47mb

The files in folder rom/92/ are the original (bump maps) dats and are much smaller, if you installed Amelilas original you will need to intall these originals too (or just delete the updated ones and use the originals).

Zone times should be massively faster (and any issues with black screen should be gone too), also the initial flyover won't pause to load anymore (as much) when it shows gusta before character select.

I made the grass less green so it looks more fitting to the surroundings and made the pathways lighter so they stand out more.

North and South Gusta dat files.
rom/0/124.dat
rom/0/123.dat

Amelila also changed the bump map files so changed these back to originals, the ones included in the zip are the originals in-case you installed Amelilas.

rom/92/25.dat
rom/92/24.dat

---

Also updated North Gustaberg (S) in the past as an additional.

rom5/0/8.dat (55 mb

when I overwrite the game files it always leads to Error 2003 and crashes the game to the point that I have to wipe FFXI and re install :(

To install drag the "rom" (adn the same for rom2 etc) folder from the mod section to the "final fantasy xi" folder, click yes on confirmation prompts.

However, if you use windower it's better to use XIpivot plugin:

------

XIpivot is a Windower and Ashita plugin made by Heals that allows you to use mods without overwriting any of the games files.

It makes it easier to use and remove all mods or test them without messing with the actual game files, this can be done with a simple text command in the game so you can disable all mods instantly.
You can also permanently delete them all again, very easily if you want to just by deleting the folder location where the mods are stored and disabling the addon (if you have it set to run in the init.file).
It also means updates won't cause any issues by replacing mods.

The only negative I can see with the testing I've done is you'll use more hard drive space.

From what I can see it works by just telling the game to check for a file at the mod folder location before using the actual files at the installed location.

Initial forum post:

https://www.ffxiah.com/forum/topic/53575/xipivot-rom-mods-without-overwriting-originals/

Download location:

https://github.com/Shirk/XIPivot/releases

Windower one:

https://github.com/Shirk/XIPivot/releases/download/v0.3.0/XIPivot_Windower_v0.3.0.zip

Download the file above for windower, copy the folder inside the zip (XIpivot/) to your windower/addons folder. Then inside the XIPivot folder create a folder called data and then inside that create another folder called DATs.

Inside there make a folder called FFXI-HD (this is where all mods go).

If you just want to test it, download the file below, which is a replacement for port sandoria.

https://tinyurl.com/yxa96lbw

Inside the zip, from the mod folder copy the rom folder (and all it's contents) over to the windower/addon/XIpivot/data/dats/ffxi-hd folder.

So it should be: addons/XIPivot/data/DATs/FFXI-HD/rom/0/113.dat

Start the game up and type /console lua l xipivot

You'll get an onscreen text message in red saying it loaded in the windower console text.

type:
/console pivot add FFXI-HD
to add that folder (this only needs to be done once since it will store that location), then zone into port sandoria (or out of and back into if you're already in it) to load the modded version of the zone.

If you want it to load every time you start ffxi without typing it every time goto windower/scripts, right click and edit init.txt and type lua l xipivot on a fresh line somewhere, then save it.

To unload xipivot and all mods type /console lua u xipivot "

I like the look of a lot of these mods. My only concern is whether some of them (particularly the zones) take some liberties. I prefer it to be as accurate to the original as possible.

Can anyone give me some feedback on how faithful these mods are? All of the equipment and monsters seem to be pretty faithful from looking at screenshots.

Some zones are better than others, whether its mine or Amelilas.

With zones you're better off picking and choosing instead of installing them all I would say. Sandoria mods are good, lower jeuno is good, gustabergs are good, mog houses are good. I doubt you'll like Adoulin (I plan to redo that, cause it took a lot of liberties) and the same for Amelilas Saruta mods since the grass texture is rough.

Totally agree.
The reason I haven't used a lot of these mods is that some of them are little more than contrast/saturation boosts which can completely change the way things look. For example, a zone that's meant to look like a forest during an early morning shower now looks like it's the middle of the day simply because of a more saturated green. Changing the colors isn't an HD mod.

rom2/12/107.dat is the main one to change back but each island is its own seperate dat too.

I'll look at making them all smaller next week.

If anyone has some free time and is willing to do it can you make a list of all Amelilas updated zone mods? I tend to go off and do things on a whim often, if there is a list it would make it easier for me to do that.

Is there anyone who has XIPivot working on Ashita who could take a look at some screenshots and tell me what the hell I'm doing wrong? XD

"/pivot s" shows me the correct overlay, and I've got it set up ROM/45/32.DAT, but it doesn't work. Manually swapped out the dats and can confirm that it should work, but my pivot seems to be busted somehow?

Issue is now fixed. I'll post explaining below.
