Disgaea might be in my top 3 "series" of games... even though I too only played the first.

It's just such a feel good series.

This is my first time watching RPGLB and it actually feels like it would be more fun to go to than GDQ.

I kinda have the feeling that being at GDQ is like being on borrowed time just from what I've seen people say and heard of issues with Klaige.

I feel like GDQ would be less fun because, no matter where you are on event grounds, you'd have to watch everything you do and say rather than be yourself whereas at RPGLB, they seem more chill and as long as you don't break the rules and keep it PG on stream, you're fine.

Maybe this idea is irrational but it's honestly how I see it ATM.

There is so much damn drama at the GDQ events... its sad really.

They are really more laid back at the RPG limit break events.

AGDQ last time was really.... lack luster

My fave speedrunner is BubblesDelFuego, I know some people dislike him but he's not that bad when you get to know him.

Bubbles was permanently banned from GDQ for something that happened off of event grounds. He found this out almost two months after AGDQ 2018. Two months of emailing and trying to get a reply on what was going on, from the looks of it, staff was avoiding him and panicked a few days before SGDQ submissions opened and simply said "let's just permaban him"

From what I've heard, only two people on staff actually wanted him banned while the rest of staff didn't but those two had more pull.

TL;DR version of the story:

Bubbles and an unnamed friend was staying off-site at an Airbnb, his friend had an anxiety attack one morning so Bubbles gave him a piece of a marijuana edible and after a bit everything was fine. Fast forward 8 hours later they are at GDQ and the friend has another anxiety attack (the edible having obviously worn off hours prior) and someone calls 911. Paramedics show up, check him out ask what he'd eaten, medications he'd taken, etc. Police ask to speak to Bubbles to confirm and nothing happens, police and paramedics leave, Bubbles' badge is taken and he's escorted out. Silence for the next two months.

I really need to ask him where he got some 8 hour weed. >.>

Oh, one other thing. GDQ is pretty much a convention whether they accept it or not, I mean they are even holding panels this year.

They don't actually have a security team afaik. It's just Klaige and a few volunteers who walk around, stand at doors, and occasionally demand to see badges.

For an event that size, not having a few professionally trained security guards, armed or not, is irresponsible imo.

EDIT: additionally, I haven't read the ToS of Twitch but considering GDQ is more of a company than an individual, you'd think that sub-only mode would put them in legal jeopardy since someone could pay $5-$50 only to be permabanned from using what they just paid that money for.

I'd imagine there's something in ToS that addresses this but if not... >.>

I would actually like to play TAY. It follows Cecil and Rosa's son, Ceodore and stars some of the other characters from FFIV as well as new ones, such as Yang's daughter.
