"My Hands" From Leona Lewis, Off Her Upcomming Album Chosen As FF13 Theme Song?!?!

If it was for FF14 i would not care, i dont listen to the music in ffxi ussually, but its different as its not online, the themes from the other FF's that arent online, sorta hit me quite hard as im sure they do most people here.Its not just the entry song once you've played the game and come back years later, not with the other FF themes anyway.


Edit: also Daus, in england shes very famous, literally a household name, but not one nessacerily loves and respects, mainly just because she was on a reality tv show.

It's not just that though. Most of the FF main theme songs tie in with the plot and are played in the pivotal moments (FFX notably; "To Zanarkand" is an incredibly poignant main theme song and is actually incorporated in a lot of the tracks in the game).

The theme song provides a unified central sound which you can identify with and which you grow to associate with the dramatic scenes and emotions you encounter in the game. If the theme is weak, the resulting drama can be very weak.

Never underestimate the dramatic and emotional impact of using and developing a theme song well (FFX again is probably the best example of this I can think of).

You'll be hearing it more than once throughout the game, even if only through instrumental/a capella.

I'm in no way a fan of Leona Lewis, never watched X-Factor, never bought her CD's, didn't care either way when some fella twatted her at some event..but this song isn't too terrible, I don't know what the hating is all about? It isn't much of a change from Eyes on Me or Suteki Da Ne, aside from the fact that she's a western artist.

Suteki Da Ne I didn't like either but at least that was relegated to a very minor part of the game. Hopefully this will be too... it's just not my style of music AT ALL. Shallow and the lyrics actually make me cringe to listen to :(

Lyrics like "put on my makeup, talking to the mirror" should not be in the FF13 theme track...

I agree and am the same way. Ive heard of her but didnt know who she was, I dont think the song is any better than any other SE pop song..she's just not asian like everybody else :P oh wells

My Hands was written by Ina Wroldsen and Birgisson.

Well that means she's either covering it or she doesnt write her own songs, im pretty sure thats not SE, otherwise it would most definatly not be on her album lol.

She co-wrote most of the tracks on her latest album.

I kinda like it. :/ It's different from the other FF's, yeah. But so is the game play, anyway. I get the impression they're going for something new (duh?). And it's not like this will be the only song through out the entire game (least I hope not. I don't like it THAT much).

But yes, To Zanarkand was awesome. I would prefer a more traditional style of FF music. But this song isn't turning me off as much as it seems to be for everyone else.

SE said they chose the song specifically because it fit the emotional theme of the game, even though a lot of people are saying the song doesnt fit the game... im pretty sure no one has played it and could know that >.> but if you dont like it look at the bright side, theme songs in FFs are usually only played in one scene of the game usually near the end or just in the credits, you'll hardly even notice it :P

I'm a FF purist. There's certain ways they should be done, and this is not it. Personally, I'd like to see Leona Lewis dead and bleeding in the streets for this, but that's just me.

I disagree with those who said it's becoming more casual, I see it as becoming more hardcore. i.e. trying to appeal to those people who play halo/gears of war/modern warfare 2/insert next generic crappy fps here. That's why they're using a western artist.

To my knowledge, there have never been separate songs used for Japanese and NA versions of any FF. But even more than that, all the songs have been original. I assume this is why Uematsu-sama left SE. They wanted to make more money by appealing to more western gamers, and he'd rightfully have no part in tainting a great and almost sacred series.

The tune may sound nice, and may in fact be very nice when remixed melodically into the rest of the score "At Zanarkand"-style. But dear God, using those lyrics in a FF game makes me want to rip out the spine of the next love-addled tween who tells me how good New Moon is and how much of a "hater" I am for saying Edward is a mother f[The rest of this post has been removed due to language no human should hear.]

Personally, I liked her on the X Factor and still like many of her songs. I was unsure of the song becomming the main theme for FFXIII, but after watching many of the AMVs on youtube with the song and clips from the Snow/Vanille cutscenes, the song makes a lot of sense and goes quite well.

I realise some of the lyrics seemed out of place, but they have stated the song will be edited slightly. Maybe it's not just the music that will be edited, but the odd words here and there. I just think it's too early to fully put judgement this.

Lol Nobuo is doing the music for FF XIV i think and not for XIII which sounds lame if you ask me ><. It's like they hit rock bottom...i was looking really forward to XIII but after hearing that song -.-, could at least make an original theme that suits it... What's next? Micheal Jackson songs in it as a tribute to his death or something >< Thriller during a major fight lol. They should of made Nobuo do the music for FF XIII and someone else for FF XIV instead of other way around. Not everyone even listens to MMORPG music XD friend of mine has never put his sound on while playing all these years on FF XI, he hardly knows any music from it...

It was Nobuo himself who passed over the music rights for XIII to do XIV. He was originally planned for XIII.

In over two years, I've turned my sound on twice. Once to hear Bard casting music when I first started it.. And again like 2 weeks ago to remind myself of Bard casting music and Blu casting.

Yea exactly xD there's many people who don't even turn their sound on while playing an MMORPG lol, that's why he should of made the soundtrack for XIII not XIV D:Didn't know that ><. I wonder why he did it O_o, well i hope FF XIII doesn't go downhill, i don't buy a lot of new games but i always look forward to a new FF but FF XII... i always get sick of it by the time i get to that tomb for some reason. I really hope they don't ruin FF XIII ><.

Also, outrage at no FFX-2 on the walls. I actually really enjoyed that game. It's the only one of three FF games I play anymore, the other being FFTA2.

I hate when video games use commercial music, especially BAD commercial music. This, though no surprise (look how long SE is milking FFVII), doesn't change my opinion on that simply because it's it Final Fantasy game.

I thought he had a falling out with SE? I don't know. I don't pay attention to that kind of crap.

But original scores > crappy commercial music any day. It's just too bad SE is more concerned with being commercial than making their video games an experience like they have in the past.

I'm not a Leona Lewis fan, but I guess it's hard to make everyone happy. I am surprised that SE selected this artist.

I guess it's ok; I always purchase the limited edition Japanese Soundtrack anyways :)
