I was looking to get a new pair of headphones, and from doing research, I've heard that Bose is basically the best at marketing, which is why they can charge to much and that other companies are just as good, if not better.

The few reviews I read was about Audio technica ATH-ANC7 vs Bose QC3, and the pair of bose I was looking at were half the price of the QC3 (Bose Over Ear headphones), so while I couldn't find a direct comparison of Bose OE vs Audio technica ATH-ANC7, I figured that QC3 > OE and that if Audio technica ATH-ANC7 can compete w/ QC3, then it defaults over Bose OE.

Would someone w/ more headphone knowledge be able to confirm which would be the better choice for me?

Comfort is not an issue, I would prefer better sound over more comfort, so mainly comparing the sound of Bose Over Ear and Audio technica ATH-ANC7

The ath-anc7 seems to have better user reviews than the qc3.

The qc3 is slightly lighter than the ath-anc7, if that matters.

The ath-anc7 uses 1 AAA alkaline battery, while the qc3 comes with a lithium rechargeable. (rechargeables are nice and all, but if your battery is dead, the qc3 won't play music. roughly 20hr runtime on qc3, 40hr runtime on ath-anc7)

The qc3 has more bass, but a poor mid range, making a less clean sound. kinda depends on what you are listening too i guess.

from what i can tell, the qc2 will sound better than the qc3, so if your looking for better sound, you might want to compare the qc2 to the ath-anc7.

*edit- saying the qc3 has a poor mid range makes it sound horrible after rereading it, the qc3 does sound fantastic, just has a less clean sound to it.

Well like I said, the comparison is more to the Bose OE, so I was just thinking that if these are comparing w/ qc2 & 3, then they should easily beat Bose Over Ear? But I haven't seen a comparison w/ OE vs qc2(3). Is there a different or is it the same thing + noise cancellation?

oh i'm retarded, basically it depends on if you want noise cancellation or not.

the OE is a cross between the qc2/qc3 w/out the noise cancellation. (also no batteries)

~edit forgot to add that the OE has slightly less bass than qc3

Well the OE is actually more expensive and from what I read, the battery is optional on ATH-ANC7(unlike bose where i hear they're a must).

So cheaper w/ an optional function, or are there any non noise cancellation Audio Technicas that for the same price will produce better sound quality, but w/o the cancellation?
