Even if the collector edition digital? i am lost with that in their site ;^; like i get the game on the internet but send the collector stuff by mail? XD if is like that...I am sold! <3 'w'
Digital collector edition means no book,no map,no cd,etc.
Just the game + the 4 special in game items.
But on the SE site you can buy the physical collector edition too. Which theu will mail to you. Game, book,cd,etc everything!
-on my knee- ........NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooo orz I guess paying for the physical lol

While I will never condone playing with minimum spec, you listed the recommended spec.

Screen Resolution 1280x720
Internet Persistent broadband internet connection required

Just back from my local gamestop here in Ireland and they have nothing about a collector's edition of even a release date at all on their system. Gonna keep checking back every week, and if it isnt on there a few days after it finally gets added to the EU site,I'll be ordering on there!

Friend of mine just said the only avaliable version for pre-order at the moment is the digital version.
They made a post on the beta forum, they'll add physical versions in a few days it seems.

Yeah "digital collector's edition" for 40 euro on the EU SE site is all. Mainly updating for physical collector's!

Feels good to have payed 5£ for the 1.0 collector edition when it came out and they couldn't sell them over here.
Now all they need to do is justify paying a subscription.

Can you please tell me where to buy physical collector edition? Can't find it on their site... (EU version)

Thats their biggest obstacle, one I doubt they will overcome.

FFXIV looking a lot more appealing than FFXI these days. Pretty sure they will overcome that obstacle.

Anybody know if i own the game but never installed it if that counts as owning it already? Basically will the code work and would I get the 30 days free. I ask because at the end of last year Future Shop had the game for 47 cents. I bought it in hopes I would get a free 30 days in 2.0

Whenever I see a comment like this, I have to wonder if any of the people who cry about the subscription-based model have actually played any F2P MMOs. I've played several myself, including Aion, TERA, and LOTRO when that went F2P, and IMO the cash shops seriously hurt the overall quality of the game. Aion in particular was just terrible after they implemented the cash shop, riddled with not only dozens of pointless vanity items and pets, but the ability to pay cash for EXP multipliers, faster access to raids, and even high level enchantment stones which were necessary to getting the best equipment in the game.
So what you end up with is an economy dominated by those who have oodles of RL cash (or rich parents), players buying their way through levels/gear, as well as a host of other problems. That's not even taking into consideration that F2P models generally put out much less actual game content than P2P, and that GM support and just customer support in general are just plain bad. Not saying SE's customer support is stellar mind you, but it's certainly better than any I've dealt with in F2P games.
Your measly ~$15/month fee will, in most cases, provide you with a much more fluid, balanced, and fulfilling MMO experience than any F2P game out there. This is my opinion of course, but I'm sure there are many others out there who have braved the F2P market and found the overall atmosphere in those games undesirable.
On topic, I'll be hitting up ARR on launch day, probably even going to take a week off from work at launch so I can really enjoy it. Waiting on Gamestop to offer the preorders on the PS3 CE since they have the guaranteed street date shipping, and Amazon makes no mention of whether or not you get the Moogle Cap/Cait Sith preorder bonuses if you purchase through them. LOL@Digital River, will never purchase anything through them again after that Ni No Kuni fiasco.

'cuse me, I need to change my boxers.
EDIT:
Anyone else notice the irony that FF14 Summoners will be getting Cait Sith before FF11 Summoners? >.> (I know it's just a "doll" follower, but still.)
By Xzanderth 2013-05-25 00:45:03
I noticed the Cait Sith thing, had a good laugh about it. The fact that it's the same Cait Sith design that FFXI has is just packing salt into the wound too. Now we just need an Atomos pet (or actual summon, which would be incredibly entertaining) and we'll be set.

Oh D: I never got a chance to play 1.0 (my rig at the time was terribad) so I missed that. I should probably look into reading all the lore from 1.0 or watching all the story CSs on youtube or something before ARR comes out. ARR better be good too, I've gone and gotten myself so hyped up for it that it hurts. I've been praying for a beta invite, didn't get one in the first two phases, hopefully will in phase 3. August 27th seems so far away :(

I don't think senkyuutai was even suggesting the game should be F2P. To me, it seemed like he just meant "Now they need to make the game worth it's subscription cost" which is obviously true. I found early 1.0 to be pretty fun and some of the post yoshi changes. I'm looking forward to actually trying 2.0, but a lot of the things that were good from 1.0 are going to changed for no real reason(DoL).
By Xzanderth 2013-05-25 01:41:39
I wasn't specifically targeting senkyuutai when I said that, despite the quote, and I apologize if it seemed that way. I just wanted to put that thought out there for the individuals that DO think paying for any MMO is stupid, since I've encountered quite a few folks like that. I've also been drinking, and didn't play 1.0, so the whole "justifying the subscription because the first version was trash/whatever else" bit didn't occur to me.
Ah well, here's hoping they actually do make it worth the money this time around. I'll likely stay subbed for awhile either way, since as of right now no other MMOs interest me and ARR will probably be the biggest reason I'll pick up a PS4 at or shortly after launch. That is, of course, assuming they port it to PS4 as well, but I can't see them not doing so. As long as the game is solid, the fact that it's on a console should bolster its sales considerably and hopefully warrant the port when the time comes.

It'll probably be at least a year or two after the PS4 launches before they port this over, assuming it's doing well enough. I don't quite understand the subscription gripes. SE servers more or less always work very well, the polish is phenomenal, and the amount of content is usually acceptable or better for most players (I don't think there's a way to produce content fast enough for the most hardcore). Also, $13/month is so negligible. It's the equivalent of buying a new game every ~5 months or so at retail price, which I'd at least consider infrequent for nearly all gamers.
F2P is usually just bad for balance. Either everything's cosmetic or it's pay to win. All cosmetic is fine, but developers may have trouble pulling in funds that way.
That said, I hope my previous purchase of 1.0 gives me those almost assuredly useless but cool looking toys! I didn't actually pre-order, but the copy I ended up purchasing netted me a few items I didn't expect to get (bracers and boots) so I'm not sure if it was a CE code...

Where are the code located? I haven't closed any windows, but I just pre-ordered it. The only thing I see is for the early access.
I pre-ordered the PS3 version.

Thats one sexy special edition. Even though I have the original special edition and have no plans to play it on ps3,I'm gonna buy that because it is pretty damn sexy.
Edit because people cant read: You DO NOT have to rebuy the game if you already own the 1.0 pc versions. The 2.0 ARR client will be a free download on pc for those people.
Edit 2: Providing links to the official SE pages, where you can also preorder it on there. Preorder link is at the bottom of the page.
