LOL There is like 5 topics and 100 pages of xbox cring so many tears so many. Dont like it dont buy it. Ive had a XBL gold account for 9yrs paying my 50-60 bucks every year big deal. There have been 2 days from moving (and the random power outtage)where my xbox hasnt had internet. I havent been to a Gamestop or any gamestore in 3 yrs, I actually enjoy buying my games off "Games on demand" so i guess xbox1 caters to people like me. You cant get good internet where u live? 5 words move and get google fiber. No need to keep beating a dead horse we get it most of you dont like it. Enjoy your ps4 btw i hear u guys finally get cross games live chat welcome to xbox 2005. I'm done flame on my friends flame on.
You are correct. It caters to dumb *** like you who thinks anyone can live in perfect conditions.

I'm not sure what your point is.
That was a VERY GEEKY way of saying that the current Microsoft strategy is privilege the DEVELOPERS instead of the consumers.
But really what you posted in that animated gif is what I see happening in the next four years if Microsoft don't give up of their stupidity bound plans. But I'd bet with you that everything is already set on stone due to a lot of already signed contracts and other bureaucratic garbage gamers could care less about.
How exactly does it give the privilege to the developer? If anything, Sony gives developers more privileges by allowing self-publishing for Indie titles, and no arbitrary twenty-thousand dollar patch fee. (Which some could argue is good because it holds Developers to task getting the game right in the first place).
It seems like Microsoft favors the business-publisher side of gaming, giving the publisher total control over everything.

I've had XBL Gold and an Xbox360 since launch day. No feature XB1 or Xbox itself offers is worth signing away so many consumer rights as XB1 requires, treating the consumer like a criminal on Parole is insulting, and if you're okay with being insulted flame on.
Here's why I'm PS4 this generation unless some rockin-exlusives show up. (Talking at least 5x as awesome as Titanfall looked, inb4 PC)
1. Out of the box Superior Hardware. (Upwards of 50%)
2. Cheaper
3. Focus on Gaming
4. Better Day 1 lineup. (Killzone: Shadowfall namely)
5. Better Launch (1yr from release) Lineup so far
6. Respectful Policy (No phone-home ever 1-24 hrs)
7. Not Tied to internet connectivity.
8. Sony tends to have better exclusives. Compare The Last of Us to Gears of Bore, Halo 9001.

Maddox has a rather insightful review of the situation, but I won't post the video because he spends the last minute of the video saying ***over and over again. You can find it if you're interested.

I was thinking more of the technical side of it, having the same source code work in two platforms instantly is kind of the ultimate goal the whole XBOX project had since it was created in 2000.
What SONY can offer is better politics. But a lot of developers prefer to have an easier life and cheaper production costs. Others just man up and learn how to work with UNIX-like platforms. It took like four years for Valve to finish coding their unified UNIX-ish platform for STEAM. Before that, Mr. Valve would bash the PS3 and Linux quite furiously. Has any of you forgotten the criticism Gabe Newell gave the PS3 back when it was new ? He was angry how out of the standard the platform was back then.
Now, if you want to publish stuff with Nintendo, their platform/coding style is also POSIX so ...
I agree with you, just I am using different words to name the things.
Microsoft is counting on how the world is depending on Windows as a platform but now a lot of parties want a part of the pie. And at this time they have potential to take substantial bites.
MS picked the wrong time to try to push their own agenda against the market. The competition will exploit this chance *furiously*.

Going back to that question regarding cloud computing, Nvidia gave a demo of their GRID technology on the Ouya at E3:

YouTube Video Placeholder
Now, I don't agree a whole lot with cloud services but being a self-proclaimed "nerd", you can't help but be impressed by this technology.
The idea is, again, very simple: Allow an underpowered device to play a game that would be much too intensive for it to render and process normally if done locally.
The OUYA if anyone doesn't know is powered by an underwhelming 1.6 GHz Tegra 3 SoC (system-on-a-chip). However, link it up to a very good internet connection and plug it into a remote GPU server like GRID, it can stream games that it normally would not be able to play them.
This can help the PS4 and Xbox One, which both are capable of using, offload CPU-intensive physics calculations probably ahead of time to free up the CPU for other things. You have to remember that both systems are using a highly modified mobile "Jaguar"-based, eight core SoC running at 1.6 GHz. (Note: the AMD SoC here is "out-of-order" and is quite more powerful than the 1.6 GHz Tegra 3 which is "in-order".)
Playstation 4's and Sony's upcoming game streaming service for older PS3 games is going to be done, I believe, very similarly but using PS3-based hardware to render and process the games remotely then streamed to your [possibly PS+ account-enabled] Playstation 4. I would hope two things would happen:
Your previously purchased disc-based PS3 games can have their licenses transferred over to the streaming version at little to no additional charge.
Microsoft would offer something similar.
Again, the biggest issue here is a big one: You NEED a stable high speed broadband connection for this to work so it feels like it's running off your console with no delay. That was the primary issue with OnLive as the lag and input lag made the gaming experience less than ideal for those with less than perfect internet connections.
Like I said before, we're nowhere near ready for a fully cloud-based world. We're not there yet especially when majority of the country does not have access to broadband internet, and that our broadband services is a laughing stock when compared to Europe and Japan. Canada is about in the same boat as us.
As promising as cloud computing is and cloud gaming, this country is not ready for it. Until we can be rid of the data caps, bandwidth metering, high prices, slow speeds and lack of availability and access for the majority of the country, we are ill-prepared for a cloud-based future. For the $70 a month I pay for my internet service, I could get something like 50 Mbps to 100 Mbps service in another country which is twice to four times the speed I have now. And, that's a very sad and dire situation for this country.

I must admit there are so many fanboys clawing at microsoft at the moment clearly they are a little deluded as imo 90% of xbox users are online anyway and people will enjoy the ease of use of the xbox one and not to mention sony may not be doing DRM but that doesent mean everyone else wont lol how many sony produced games do you own? not so many huh!
its also a breath of fresh air to see legit post like the one i quoted ^^
.
im 31 i have enough money to buy all i want but i wont be buying ps4 as they refuse to change that god awfull pad after 15 years its basically the same pad and lets be honest its poor.
gotta say im excited for the next gen now cant wait^^

I find it funny how Hasbro claims blatantly Transformers is their invention.
Maybe it's like how North America calls their "Handyegg" sport (I personally call it "ARMOR RUGBY") "football". lol
But back on the subject, Microsoft gone blind and that will cost them their lead on their home market. The market is hinting them STRONGLY that this is not the way to go and if they put a serious effort they might still be able to pull of a miraculous recovery from this EXTREMELY DAMAGING PR DISASTER.

I know someone mentioned it before but major parts of the US constantly lose power due to the weather. Power lines are easily downed when a hurricane comes through, high winds, trees falling over on power lines because of high winds, tornadoes, snow storms, etc.
This doesn't happen in just rural areas either but throughout the US.

I don't think there's anyone here who isn't impressed with the possibilities of Cloud Computing/Gaming, but this is a case where being ahead of the curve isn't really the right thing for consumers.
Onlive is still ahead of itself, the infrastructure of the U.S. has some major catching up to do, and the XboxOne will be no different, as it stands now, the best situation for Microsoft is that Early PS4 Adopters might have a reason to go XboxOne four or five years down the line... Might.

I do not want my games graphics settings and mods to be predetermined by the server that's running the game
and considering I run most games at 5760 x 1080, no streaming system is going to stream games to me at that resolution
Xbox one cloud computing claims are about as believable as SimCity

I assume you mean "At Launch" streaming services won't be able to hit [whatever] resolution. Because the insinuation that technology stagnates is so patently ludicrous, I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt.

A correct, but ultimately pointless comment. People are so quick to complain, but not quick to flex the power that ultimately falls to them. If people didn't "Need da' facebooks" and were willing to go without connectivity, I think our free market would address the issue itself.
Or there'd be a bailout, but that's never happened to a financially defunct institution. Right??????

The PR it self was a disaster. And people complaining about not having Internet, well sadly you have 2 choices, tether your connection to your phone or other device or simply don't buy. Major Nelson already confirmed that any sort of internet connection even Tethering would suffice to check in as it were.
I get people are upset about the whole thing, and from what i understood, M$ is not going to back down. Tbh i believe Sony to the very last minute (hence the fact that they were gonna make Online play PS+ only) was gonna impose DRM also, but decided that this was their opportunity to break free and race ahead.
So yeah on paper the PS4 looks better, but don't for a second believe that companies themselves will not impose their own form of DRM.
In the end for me XBO line up has impressed me more. Though i generally buy all 3 formats (will not be buying Wii U this time unless Xenogears is released lol). Buy both and that covers everything. With this new family library, thats awesome for me. Me and my brother can now share games the moment we buy them. He doesnt play online at all, so just single player but that will save us a good deal. It is not ideal in other areas but here it has its benefits.
Its not all doom and gloom. And remember. Second hand games DOES hurt publishers. I know people who havent bought a retail game yetr. They have over 20 games. Not one of those has gone to the devs. All to the middle man selling the second hand goods. It damages the industry. I know ill get flamed for this, but as far as im concerned, there is little difference between second hand games and piracy, there simply isnt. Either way the devs get no support from that person aquiring it from either method. M$ has the right idea, the only thing i wish they removed was the 24 hour check, which i guess in time hopefully they will, but if they dont, well.... oh well lol thats life deal with it....

It doesn't matter in the long term anyway, I can't imagine that they'll be publishing game discs after this generation. Everything will be downloaded. At which point they can phase out the used game market. Even though there could be a model for used downloaded games if they wanted one. But they get more revenue from making you pay full price. Not having used games hurts consumers.
And no piracy is not the same as Used sale. Piracy occurs because you can take one copy and make as many copies as you want and distribute them. Used sale is when you have one copy and always have one copy. You can sell it or give it away but one copy remains.
