Gjoerulvs hardcore mod was really exciting and added new bosses which tested me to the limit. I never did get round to killing Sephiroth, but I had a lot of fun playing that with the mods. Graphics were redone so you don't get the blocky nature. If people realized this they might not ask for a remake as much. Edit: Also they only make these ports because that is what happens for anything, whether its television, music, or games. All media has to be updated to fit into the current gen, even if those ports don't bring anything new, at least you can play a game that was specifically ported for the console. They ain't trying to squeeze money out of it, they just want to ensure people that if they want to relive the old days with a newly ported version on the PS4, then they can. The rest of us will just download the pc version for nothing, if we ain't already cleared the game x298479202 times. Haha, yeah that's how I feel. I own the game on PSX and have a perfectly functioning PS1/PS2 I can play it on. I really don't need another fancy port for it. Makira! You're wrong! All we need is a Sword Art Online style Game with VR but Real Graphics, with the whole "you will die if you suck thing" but put evry human in the world in it, with random town raids. This way we kill off all the fail players (OaP's and Children are Auto Safe Zoned) with Robots on the outside keeping us alive and healthy~ish. But I guess I'm just bat-***crazy. Cerberus.Makira said: » Do not need a remake. Wish this ***would stop already. In the minority here but we don't need an FFVII remake. Or any of the others for that matter. ....but seriously when are we getting a remake , I've been waiting for 1 since they released the ps3 and I saw the tech demo....that's also when I learned Tech demos are just to show off graphics for new systems, *stares at majors mask wii u tech demo*. I love ff7, still love it, still my fav ff in the series, but this is just making me want to start hating the game like a lot of people are starting too..... Yeah, I was being snarky there. It's not that all the games they're producing are bad, it's just that they're focusing on producing games that I don't see anyone asking for. Oh well, maybe someday I'll be able to replace my Bahamut Zero avatar with a remastered version. Sorry sarcasm isn't easy to convey in text (I see the sarcasm now though!) indeed I would rather some strong games with high difficulty and some re-playability than a lol remastered. In fairness, Tina as the "main" characters name in regions outside of Japan would seem bland compared to some of the other mains in the series from that point. Tina is a 'common' name compared to Japan at least here in the US. I like the fact it's Terra here and not Tina, makes it more special. Plus it kinda starts the 'Element/Weather-related' names from that point on. (Granted outside of Zidane + Tidus) karusanyoshi said: » Cerberus.Makira said: » Do not need a remake. I hope it doesn't, but Square my get desperate enough to keep their name alive and do it. I mean, they remastered X-2 :P that screams being desperate as is. Maybe we're just really hard to please these days?

I guess like Conagh says, I'm not impressed by a few new additions to a game that's ultimately the same... and ends up costing me another $50~60 for something I basically already own. High hopes for XV though :) Cerberus.Makira said: » Cerberus.Tidis said: » Cerberus.Makira said: » karusanyoshi said: » Cerberus.Makira said: » Do not need a remake. Wish this ***would stop already. High hopes for XV though :) You can continue to play the same game after your old original console dies, thus also ensuring players can relive that nostalgia of the old plots they cherished. If a remake costs over 50 dollars (If I remember correctly, Halo 1 anniversary only went for 25 bucks in my area about a month after it released.) then idk what to tell you. I support remakes, it rekindles interest in the franchise by giving players back the stories that they liked, with what the game would be like if it was made today. When they did the FFIV remake on the DS, I fell in love with it. Why? Because I finally got to see up to date images of my favorite FF party, Rydia being the one I wanted to see the most. In the end however, I bought the FFX remake and was thoroughly thrilled with the game. I support FFVII's remake despite not being a huge fan of that particular storyline, it beats the future crap that SE is going to spew in order to try and be edgy. (See: Lightning's failing game, and perhaps FF15's failing if it doesn't live up to what it's being fluffed up as.) Remakes vs remastered are two totally different things. Ffiv on the ds new wasn't $20 because it was almost a brand new game. A remade vii wouldn't be either. A pc port to ps4 is also not worth the money to me and honestly an entire remake (which they'd charge full price for) still isnt worth it to me. Clearly people are interested and have different opinions and they'll buy the game and be happy with their remake. Plus side is I wouldn't have to hear about a damn ff7 remake anymore. ;) Cerberus.Makira said: » To each their own. Halo was a total remake or a re-release? Plus side is I wouldn't have to hear about a damn ff7 remake anymore. ;) To be blunt the only thing that got remade was a graphics copy and paste of the stuff from Halo Reach with some new sound effects (And copying and pasting Halo 3 Cortana.) The only things that got fully remade were the cutscenes, which imo doesn't qualify, it's just a graphic change and the game engine is the exact same as Halo CE on both Xbox and PC. Comparing the older with the new stuff, dear god... YouTube Video Placeholder YouTube Video Placeholder Though that's completely off topic and I apologize. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if they redo 7 they need to put multiple options in for people, only way to please as many as possibly at once.
I mean you're pretty much guaranteed a million sold copies, even if you sell it digital onry. Production costs would be less on this generation for multi platform due to the platforms being the way they are. Option for voiceovers, or no voiceovers, and or multilanguage. Option for stronger enemies (maybe a hard mode could satisfy this). Add the fort condor battles to be replayable after they are defeated (I know it doesn't make sense, but that minigame was enjoyable). I've thought of more before but I'm whipped right now, and the concept is there, basically put: making a one size fits all low production engine overhaul throw it out for the fans to eat up and you'll end up pissing off the rest of the fans who are for some reason still loyal even after lol13. I kinda like FF7's gritty translation. If they ever redo it, they'll remove all of the fuc*ed up ***that characters say, like Barret calling Cloud to "hurry his skinny white *** up". They' ll also make Cloud talk more properly, in the original he says stuff like C'mon, and 'bout and other slang phrases which made him relatable and cool. Stuff like that was hardly continued after FF7, definitely not from main characters.
Also a remake of FF7 in this day and age would have to be rated higher than T, likely M. If FF13 was rated T there's no way FF7 could be rated T. FF13 had 0% cursing, showed no actual bloodshed or violence except for implied violence like Cid being shot off camera, you just see the cartridge fly in the air. In FF7, you cross dress in a town devoid of women, most of the town is implied to be gay(because Don Corneo hordes all the women). The Honeybee Inn is an obvious sex brothel. Also this is a pretty funny tidbit from an old interview. You know how in FF7 when characters travel with you, they all enter Cloud's avatar because of PS1 limitations, and when there's a dialogue event, they all appear to exit from inside Cloud? There was a dummied scene in which Biggs/Wedge/Jessie see Barrett and Tifa enter Cloud and then run off screen, so they try the same. Quote: When an event begins in Final Fantasy VII, the other two party members separate themselves from Cloud's avatar. Once the event finishes, the party recombines and Cloud is alone once more. It's just the way the game's set up, but Toriyama parodied that. The Biggs, Wedge and Jessie were like "Let's do that too!" and do their best to combine together, but they just ended up running into each other and muttering "I guess we still don't have enough practice...." You know, if they were going to do a remake of FF7 for the PS4, you would think everything would be updated, including graphics and sound effects.
It doesn't look like anything was done to it, save for a little bit sharper images and not-so-obvious polygons. I've got it on my PS3 via PSN so I'm just fine with that. |
