Hello fellow FFXI enjoyers,

Director Fujito showed up on the March Live Stream to answer our questions (2 hours of "No"), but was insistent we join the AMAN Live on May 16th 2026, for a special announcement. This will coincide with the 24th anniversary of FFXI, as well.

So, I decided to put together a quick survey/poll, because I wanted to gather some data on Fujito's upcoming announcement and what players expectations might be.

Here's a link to the poll: https://forms.gle/FQUjvYtntb8gKWuc6
(Sign-in required, but no emails or personal information collected. This is to reduce responses to one per google account).

It'll only take a moment. Thank you for your time.

I mean, they already announced a bunch of upcoming updates (limus, besieged, more additions to trust upgrades, blu/pup UI, new HTMBs, new NMs in the open world, am I forgetting anything?).

Don't really know what kind of announcement they could add onto that. They've got a lot coming already for their little team

I would've loved a second Bonanza weapon kupon :-(
I actually still have to convert the first one lmao
Having a second one would've helped me to make up my mind!
But sadly they already said there won't be a second kupon.

Hopefully there's gonna be something good for all of us though?

Didn't they say it last year? That the Bonanza Weapon Kupon was a one time thing and not something to return next year?
Pretty confident they did say that or am I misremembering it?

Which is a shame if you ask me but w/e.

The only thing I can see them announcing is the next stage of upgrades to +5, which he obviously is fixated with carrying on with till +9 8 years from now.

The thing I don't get is that with seekers of Adoulin almost all of the work was outsourced to a 3rd party developer (most of the people at SE were working on XIVARR). Why can't they do that again? 30-40k of us would buy the expansion, + years of sub fees and etc It would obviously pay for itself to do it.

No, not at all. We borrowed people from the FFXIV maps team and named a leader for the group, but we still didn't have enough people, so we turned to Matrix* for additional assistance. From there, we started working on the map for Seekers of Adoulin behind the scenes while development on the version updates proceeded as usual.* Matrix Corporation. They worked on the additional scenarios: "A Crystalline Prophecy," "A Moogle Kupo d'Etat," and "A Shantotto Ascension," as well as assisted with the development of Seekers of Adoulin.

So did you come up with the world setting and story after that?
Ito

Yes. I ended up writing most of the world setting and the plot for the scenario myself up until the content was announced. I spoke with Mr. Saito*, who was in charge of the events at the time, and we came up with things like the characters, the Naakuals, and the Twelve Orders. Afterward, we also managed to get some of the visuals together, so we were able to announce the content at the Vana★Fest 2012 event that commemorated the game's 10th anniversary. We were working at an incredible pace, so I think people were quite surprised by the announcement.

Matrix worked together with us on Seekers of Adoulin from its planning stages, and that's where the idea of the Mog Garden was born. I then took that idea and made it into what was added to the game. Even back then, it was standard for social games at the time to give players some kind of reward for logging into the game every day as a way to encourage them to play, so we thought about ways to introduce that kind of feature to FFXI.

As someone who also is a huge fan of trolling online, I want to share something I have learned over the years. You've gotta keep the bait more subtle than this, nobody is going to bite on this one.
