Random Question thread (FFXI related)
So have the new Besieged items have completely replaced the old ones, or can the lower-level versions still drop from the NMs?
They still drop

I don't think it's new, but I'm also not sure exactly what level they stop being possible or the conditions needed. Quote: Don't have any data that'd help with your trove questions, unfortunately. (Not surprised, it's way more of a pain to gather than it's worth IMO - you don't run full logging all the time, I assume, because you'd run out of hard drive space from raw text files!) I always run full text logging, but I purge it every so often and that was a good few years back so I don't even remember what machine/VM it would've been on on the off chance it's still around.
I meant to do analytics on it at some point, but kinda lost interest with all the trove changes. Good chance any statistics derived from it would no longer be accurate post-rainbow anyway. Someone in LS said to me level 13 is "always assumed" since it is released. So after camping Gurfurlur the other day last week, it was stuck at Lv12 Preparing and wouldn't move to 13. Killed it and got the drop. So there doesn't seem to be anything more than "kill NMs, get the drops anytime", besieged status appear to have anything to do with these NMs. I should probably adjust the BG wiki description, as it could be confusing for some (I know it was for me). I also initially thought the same thing. I waited for the army to hit Lv13 by checking the status constantly, and upon doing so the army immediately started advancing and the NM disappeared. So I figured that must not be the condition and just started killing, and got the drops after a few kills each. Well, I claimed Gulool Ja Ja before 13 hit and he did not run away to join the Besieged army, so I had the idea that you needed to have him claimed before the changeover. He also didn't drop anything. Then a LS member ran up on a random day and killed it and got the drop. So not only was I incorrect, I wasted time running out there during Besieged. Derp.
Does anyone know what months the additional battlefield spoils campaigns run? The one with the i-seal drops? I've literally been waiting months for it since I hate farming seals in Abyssea that much.

Either mid may or mid june Shiva.Ramzi said: » I hate farming seals in Abyssea that much. When this campaign comes around, you need to do enough battlefields for vouchers to make every single piece of empyrean gear, whether you play the job or not. Just get a full stack of like 99 and never ever ever farm abyssea paper again. You will thank yourself later. Lakshmi.Buukki said: » Shiva.Ramzi said: » I hate farming seals in Abyssea that much. Has there been any monster in the game beyond Provenance Watcher that has a TP move that disables subjobs temporarily?

Does Yaegasumi from an enemy like Arebati block Ranged WS or is it Melee WS only?

Each individual shield page?

Confused about this video here: Arebati V25 At 6:45 Arebati does Yaegasumi (no log message, but animation and spawns the second Razz) but the WS continue without being blocked/evaded. At least according to JP wiki, Ranged WS are excluded. I guess similar to how Perfect Dodge blocks all physical melee attacks but are vulnerable to ranged WS, and Invincible how it blocks all physical damage and is vulnerable to magical damage.
JP wiki https://wiki.ffo.jp/html/27290.html Quote: During the effect time, all damage from melee physical/magical special moves is avoided (0 damage for magicto). In addition, each time you dodge a special move, your WS power is increased by 20% (up to 60%) and TP is +500. However, ranged attack special moves cannot be avoided. Yes, interestingly Yaegasumi does block magical ranged WS but does not block physical ranged WS nor physical ranged JAs like Barrage.
Damn, I've tried WSing arebati after Yaeg and missed. I guess we just had a 5% miss and figured it was Yaeg. TIL

Also, the new Ischkur Turban is slightly better than Ikenga/Malignance head. Just checked mine with this set, no buffs/food: ItemSet 402834 *Head is obviously placeholder (Ischkur Turban not yet up on FFXIAH items) *Empy +2/+3 legs are better, I just don't have them My TP return with zero buffs: 374 Swap Schutzen for Malignance Gloves: 368 Swap Ischkur Turban for Ikenga/Malignance head: 371 As far as stealing the Impish Box goes, has anyone noticed anything about the steal rate on it?
I've got an i119 set with +22 steal, and can generally get it pretty fast. Fast enough that I've started doing Peach Power everyday. However, generally after about 4~5 days in a row, seems like it takes a lot longer to get Steal to work. What's typically a 2~30 minute affair takes several hours. Is it simply RNGesus RNGing me, or is there something weird about getting too many boxes in a row? Does Despoiling a Wing influence the Steal pool (if I despoil the wing, does that mean Box is no longer there)? If anyone knows anything, please let me know. It's most likely random. I also had times where I'd try and get one pretty much every day of free campaign and I've had both, successful steal attempts after the first 1-2 attempts but I've also spent multiple hours (2-4 I believe) till I eventually got one.
I've seen people claiming that they get theirs always on the first 1-3 attempts (while mentioning some FFXI voodoo) but I suspect they either only have a very small sample size or they bring multibox/party to imp camp and thus get significantly more attempts in the same time frame and "forget" to mention that. I've had those hour long attempts while also following the mentioned voodoo... Dang ole RNGesus I quit near the introduction of the new time restricted content that came out a few years ago after ody, I think it was called sortie. And I think i heard limbus 119 came out.
My question is, is the new content able to be multi boxed? Say if I wanted to build a prime weapon, can I do it by myself or is that a sort of static thing like v25 requires? I have no time for statics anymore and wondering if its worth coming back Sortie and Limbus are much more multibox friendly
Limbus has no time restriction and 8 bosses in sortie are very low effort. Ability to kill aminon depends on the boxer. But they both suck so whether you should bother or not is on you Asura.Sechs said: » Phoenix.Capuchin said: » Swap Ischkur Turban for Ikenga/Malignance head: 371 It's slightly worse than Malignance but the -5 aug feels so good it's hard to give it up. Or am I biased about it? Nah, if you're regularly using QD as soon as it's up (like on Aminon as this question started), reducing JA timer makes sense. Maletaru suggested Mirke and Blood Mask, for that reason. It also always depends on the player how many different QD sets you've built. I do have a STP-focused one and a damage focused one, but in both of those I normally default to Empy feet for the subsequent increase in same element damage effect (and they're pretty good for QD damage too). Sometimes that matters, and when it does it REALLY matters, so I tend to err on the side of just leaving that piece alone to avoid making an occasional mistake that's more harmful in the aggregate than the minor gain from optimizing with 8 different sets for every situation ever. That's good info ty.
I guess my other question would be is it basically a requirement to do daily/most days like ody/omen was? |
